We’re all Pomigliano workers

L’Italia dei Valori ha aderito allo sciopero generale dei lavoratori e sarà presente in tutte le piazze, insieme alla Cgil, per esprimere il forte malcontento verso la manovra ‘lacrime e sangue’ proposta da questo Governo.
The Italia dei Valori party supported the general workers strike and we will be down in the streets alongside the Cgil to display our extreme dissatisfaction with the “blood and tears” emergency budget proposed by this Government.

Io parteciperò al corteo di Napoli dietro allo striscione “Siamo tutti operai di Pomigliano”.
I will be taking part in the protest march in Naples, under a banner proclaiming “We are all Pomigliano workers”.

E sarà un modo per esprimere la nostra solidarietà ai dipendenti dell’azienda Fiat, ma anche per ribadire che a Pomigliano si è giocata e si continua a giocare una partita fondamentale per i diritti dei lavoratori.
This will be our way of expressing support for the employees of Fiat, but also an opportunity to reiterate the fact that the real basic issue at stake in Pomigliano is that of employee rights.

Diritti messi a rischio anche dalla manovra presentata dal Governo che noi abbiamo più volte bollato come iniqua, inutile e dannosa.
Rights that are now also being threatened by the emergency budget presented by the Government, one that we have repeatedly labelled as iniquitous, futile and damaging.

Berlusconi e Tremonti hanno promosso, infatti, un meccanismo finanziario che penalizza gli italiani onesti, blocca gli stipendi di chi vive con angoscia la quarta settimana del mese e spreme settori già prosciugati dalle precedenti manovre come quello dell’istruzione e della ricerca.
Indeed, Berlusconi and Tremonti have been promoting a financial mechanism that penalises honest Italians, freezes the salaries of people that live with the distress of struggling through the fourth week of each month and that put further pressure on sectors that have already been bled dry by previous budgets, like the education and research sectors.

Furthermore, this is a provision that cuts the available funding for the justice system, which has already been brought to its knees by other shameful legislation such as, for example, the law concerning legitimate impediment.

Allo stesso tempo, lascia invariati tutti gli sprechi, non combatte l’evasione fiscale e deprime i consumi e l’economia.
At the same time, this emergency budget does nothing to address the waste, doesn’t aid the battle against tax evasion and merely discourages consumption, thereby restricting economic growth.

In queste settimane delicate, rese ancora più difficili dalle pesanti ripercussioni della crisi economica sulla vita quotidiana dei cittadini, il ministro dell’Economia ha trovato il tempo di lasciarsi andare in considerazioni sconclusionate.
During such difficult times as these, which have been made even more difficult by the repercussions of the economic crisis on the everyday lives of the Country’s citizens, our Finance Minister somehow still found the time to let come up with some obscure observations.

Alla Berlusconi, per capirci.

Tremonti, trattando la manovra con i sindacati, si è chiesto cosa avrebbe pensato Karl Marx delle gesta che il Governo sta compiendo.
While discussing the emergency budget with the trades union, Tremonti wonders what Karl Marx would have thought of the current Government’s exploits.

E la risposta è quella odierna: le piazze d’Italia in protesta.
And today’s response is the same as every other day’s: street demonstrations throughout Italy.

L’IdV ha già presentato la sua “contromanovra”.
The IdV party has already presented its own “counter-budget”.

Abbiamo dato prova a questo Esecutivo che è possibile recuperare, in due anni, molto più di 24 miliardi di euro.
We have proved to this Executive that it is indeed possible to recover far more than 24 billion Euro in just two years.

Ed è possibile farlo senza vessare ulteriormente i cittadini comuni, gli impiegati da 1000/1200 euro al mese, gli insegnanti, i precari, i cassintegrati.
And that it is indeed possible to do so without placing any additional burden on the man in the street, the employees earning somewhere between 1000 and 1200 Euro per month, the teachers, the temporary workers and those on unemployment benefits.

E’ possibile recuperare fondi, chiedendo il conto agli evasori, qualche sacrificio a chi ha redditi medio-alti, e soprattutto eliminando gli sprechi.
Funds can be recovered by making the tax evaders pay their dues, by expecting the medium to high-income earners to make a small sacrifice and, above all, by eliminating waste.

E’ possibile farlo subito, ma questo Governo non può.
This could be done immediately, but this Government is simply unable to do so.

Non può, perché sta al potere grazie al sostegno delle lobby e delle cricche.
This Government is unable to do so because they are only kept in power thanks to the support they get from the lobby groups and the cliques.

Perché la forza elettorale del centrodestra nasce e cresce nelle stanze buie degli affaristi.
Because the centre-right’s election power is born and bred within the dark offices of unscrupulous businessmen.

E non certo dalla voglia di cambiare e di affrontare i problemi reali del Paese. Aspetto che emerge oggi proprio dalle piazze italiane.
And certainly not from any desire for change or any desire to address the real problems of this Country, which is something that is emerging from the current street demonstrations taking place all around the Country.
