2	European Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou has congratulated Italian director-screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino whose MEDIA-backed epic La Grande Bellezza (The Great Beauty) won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at last night's 86th Academy Awards in Hollywood.	La commissaria europea Androulla Vassiliou si è congratulata con il regista e sceneggiatore italiano Paolo Sorrentino, il cui affresco cinematografico "La grande bellezza", prodotto con il sostegno del programma MEDIA, ha vinto l'Oscar come miglior film straniero all'86ª cerimonia dei premi Oscar che si è svolta la notte scorsa a Hollywood.
3	The movie, staring Toni Servillo as a 65-year-old socialite reflecting on his life in Rome, has received more than €300 000 to date from the European Union's MEDIA programme for film development and distribution.	Il film, che ha come protagonista Toni Servillo nel ruolo di un sessantacinquenne frequentatore di eventi mondani che riflette sulla propria vita a Roma, ha beneficiato di un sostegno di oltre 300 000 euro dal programma dell'Unione europea MEDIA per lo sviluppo e la distribuzione di opere cinematografiche.
4	In total, seven MEDIA-backed titles were nominated for Oscars in six categories.	Nel complesso, sette titoli sostenuti dal programma MEDIA erano candidati agli Oscar in sei categorie.

10	As well as winning four prizes at the European Film Awards in Berlin last December (best film, director, actor, editor), it has also won the best foreign film category at the Golden Globes and the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs).
