And so they live on, dismissed and evicted

Un interessante articolo del 12 agosto de L’espresso, intitolato “Cacciati dal lavoro. Sfrattati da casa” traccia un profilo aberrante di questa crisi economica iniziata da tempo, ignorata dal governo e che ha colpito soprattutto il ceto medio, ossatura dei consumi di un Paese occidentale, schiacciandolo verso la povertà.
An interesting article published in “L’espresso” on 12 August, entitled “Fired from their jobs.Evicted from their homes.”, highlights one of the aberrations of the current economic crisis that began some time ago, has been entirely ignored by the Government and has mainly affected the middle class that is the backbone of the consumption of any western Country, dragging it into poverty.

L’articolo descrive il vertiginoso aumento degli sfratti coatti eseguiti da ufficiali giudiziari che ha colpito le famiglie italiane, perché quelle straniere si comprimono in monolocali pur di non perdere la dimora e mantenere il permesso di soggiorno.
The article tells of the sharp increase in the number of forced evictions carried out by officers of the Court, mainly involving Italian families since foreign immigrants tend to squeeze into tiny bedsits rather than risk losing the roof over their heads and thereby also their residence permits.

The number of rent and mortgage payment defaults has skyrocketed, indeed it has doubled, tripled and risen even ten-fold in places such as Modena, Reggio Emilia, Florence, Bolzano and a number of other wealthy provinces, particularly those of the Centre-North, where small to medium size companies have been forced to dismiss workers in their thousands.

Dopo il lavoro si perde la casa, ma dov’è il governo in questa beffa?
When anyone loses his/her job, the next thing to go is the house, but where on earth does the government fit into this swindle?

Dov’è l’opposizione filogovernativa?

Dov’è l’Udc della pietas cristiana?
Where is the Udc that believes in “Christian concern”?

Il governo Berlusconi ha pensato a tutelare la sacralità della proprietà, di chi possiede ed affitta, ma non ha destinato un cent né per il post-cassa integrazione, durata una manciata di mesi, né per le case dei cassa integrati.
The Berlusconi government has seen fit to protect the sanctity of property, of the property owner and lessor, but has failed to put a single cent towards providing assistance during the post-unemployment period, which goes on for a few months, or towards the houses belonging to the unemployed.

Non ha protetto le famiglie italiane dalla disoccupazione ed ora le getta in mezzo ad una strada invocando l’ottimismo per combattere la crisi.
They have done nothing to protect Italian families against unemployment and now they proceed to throw them out onto the streets while calling for optimism to help combat the crisis.

Ma l’ottimismo non riempie il piatto né ti regala quattro mura ed un tetto.
However, optimism will not put food on the table, nor will it provide four walls and a roof.

Basterebbe erogare un sussidio d’affitto per un anno o meno, giusto il tempo di recuperare una nuova busta paga per chi dimostra di aver perso il proprio lavoro.
All the government needs to do is to grant those people who can prove that they have lost their jobs some sort of rental subsidy for a limited period of up to a year, or less, until they are once again able to earn an income.

Oppure si potrebbe contribuire, anche in parte, all’affitto.
Or else we could contribute directly, and even partially, toward the rent payments.

O ancora coprire gli interessi dei mutui per un lasso di tempo necessario per reintegrarsi nel mondo del lavoro.
Or perhaps even cover the interest portion of mortgage payments until the individuals are able to get back into the workplace.

Insomma, da una parte si corre in soccorso ai conti comunali del compare Cammarata o si erogano miliardi di euro “a prescindere” per neutralizzare la scissione del Partito del Sud, dall’altra si lascia a secco il motore economico del Paese e coloro che lo tengono in funzione.
After all, on the one hand we rush in to shore up the Municipal accounts of our old friend Cammarata, or we dish out billions of Euro “in advance” in order to prevent the breakaway of the Party of the South, while on the other hand we leave the economic engine of the Country, namely the people that keep the Country running, high and dry.

Di cosa si sta occupando il partito dei fucili scarichi, la Lega:
But what precisely is the Party of the Unloaded Guns, namely the Lega, concerned about at this time?

Inutile porsi gli stessi interrogativi per il Pdl, perché di cosa si sta occupando questo comitato d’affari lo sappiamo:
