Nobel Peace prize money to be given to projects that support children affected by war and conflicts.
ll premio Nobel per la pace sarà devoluto a progetti a favore dei bambini vittime di guerra
The European Commission has today formally accepted the Nobel Peace prize money on behalf of the European Union and indicated that it intends to allocate the prize money to children affected by war and conflicts across the world.
Oggi la Commissione europea ha accettato formalmente il premio Nobel per la pace a nome dell’Unione europea e ha reso noto che intende devolverlo a progetti a favore dei bambini vittime di guerre e conflitti in tutto il mondo.
President Barroso said:”The Nobel Peace Prize stands for reconciliation throughout the world.
Il presidente Barroso ha affermato: “Il Nobel per la pace premia l’impegno per la riconciliazione in tutto il mondo.
The Prize money should benefit the first hope for the future, but also the first victims of present and past conflicts: children”.
Riteniamo che l’importo del premio debba andare a beneficio di coloro che rappresentano la nostra più fervida speranza per il futuro, ma anche le prime vittime dei conflitti presenti e passati: i bambini”.
Following agreement between President Barroso and Presidents Van Rompuy and Schulz, the Commission intends to allocate the Nobel Peace Prize money for “EU Nobel Prize Children’s Projects”.
La decisione è stata presa di comune accordo dal presidente Barroso e dai presidenti Van Rompuy e Schulz. La Commissione intende destinare il premio attribuito all’UE a “progetti a favore dei bambini nell’ambito del premio Nobel per la pace dell’UE”.

Since children are the future of any society and at the same time among the most vulnerable, the peace dividend the European Union is receiving should be “invested” in those children who are the victims of violent conflict.
I bambini rappresentano il futuro di ogni società, ma ne costituiscono l’elemento più vulnerabile. E’ per questo che l’Unione europea ha deciso di investire quanto riceve in premio a favore dei bambini che sono vittime di conflitti violenti.

On 12 October 2012 the Nobel Prize Committee decided to award the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union for over six decades’ contribution to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.
Il 12 ottobre 2012 il comitato per il premio Nobel ha conferito il premio Nobel per la pace 2012 all’Unione europea per il suo contributo nell’arco di oltre 60 anni alla promozione della pace e della riconciliazione, della democrazia e dei diritti umani in Europa.
The Prize Award Ceremony shall take place in Oslo on 10 December 2012.
La cerimonia di premiazione si svolgerà a Oslo il 10 dicembre 2012.
The Commission has formally accepted the prize money on behalf of the European Union and states that the approximate €930, 000 will be allocated to children that are most in need.
La Commissione ha accettato formalmente il premio a nome dell’Unione europea e ha dichiarato che i circa 930 000 euro saranno destinati ai bambini che più ne hanno bisogno.
In the coming weeks, the Commission will decide on the details of the project, including the precise terms of reference, beneficiaries’ selection process and legal and budgetary aspects.
Nelle prossime settimane la Commissione definirà i dettagli del progetto, precisandone, tra l’altro, i parametri, le modalità di selezione dei beneficiari e gli elementi giuridici e di bilancio.
The Nobel Peace Prize consists of an amount of SEK 8 million, a medal and a diploma.
Il premio Nobel consiste in un importo di 8 milioni di SEK, una medaglia e un diploma.
The medal and the diploma will be kept by the European Union institutions on behalf of the European Union.
La medaglia e il diploma saranno custoditi dall’Unione europea a nome dell’Unione europea.
The amount of money and the medal constitute a donation within the meaning of Article 19 of Regulation No 1605/2002.
L’importo in denaro e la medaglia costituiscono una donazione ai sensi dell’articolo 19 del regolamento n.1605/2002.
The amount awarded will be used for developing projects in accordance with the aim of the Nobel Peace Prize, and more specifically for action in support of children affected by war and conflicts.
L’importo del riconoscimento sarà utilizzato per realizzare progetti nello spirito delle finalità del premio Nobel per la pace e più specificamente per finanziarie azioni a favore dei bambini vittime di guerre e conflitti.
The decision to be taken by the European Commission will be in conformity with Council Regulation (EC, Euratom) No 1605/2002 of 25 June 2002 on the Financial Regulation applicable to the general budget of the European Communities.
Tale decisione della Commissione europea sarà conforme al regolamento (CE, Euratom) n. 1605/2002 del Consiglio, del 25 giugno 2002, che stabilisce il regolamento finanziario applicabile al bilancio generale delle Comunità europee.
