Lettera agli italiani di Beppe Grillo
Beppe Grillo’s letter to the Italians

“L’Italia deve diventare una comunità, nessuno deve essere lasciato indietro.
Italy must become a community. No one must be left behind.

E’ intollerabile, inumano, vedere le file di esodati, sfrattati, disoccupati alle mense della Caritas mentre chi ha sprofondato il Paese nella miseria si muove con la scorta, l’auto blu, senza alcuna preoccupazione economica.
It’s intolerable, inhuman, to see the queues of people who have been turfed out of their jobs a few years before retirement age, people turfed out of their homes, and people who are unemployed waiting at the Caritas soup kitchens while the people who have plunged the country into poverty are going around with body guards, in official blue cars and with no financial problems.

I partiti sono i primi responsabili di questa situazione.
The parties are the main ones responsible for this situation.

Hanno occupato lo Stato, lo hanno svenduto, spolpato da dentro.
They have occupied the State. They have sold it off. They have taken out its flesh from the inside.

Ora, queste persone si presentano, grazie ai giornali e alle televisioni che controllano, come i salvatori della patria, proprio loro che l’hanno affossata, usata per i loro interessi.
Now, thanks to the newspapers and the TV channels that they control, they present themselves as the saviours of the fatherland, they, the very people who have fleeced it and used it for their own interests.

Italy has taxes at a level that is among the highest in the world.

Uno dei maggiori debiti pubblici.
It has one of the highest values for public debt.

Un tasso di disoccupazione, soprattutto giovanile, che ha fatto emigrare in pochi anni un milione e mezzo di ragazzi italiani, diplomati, laureati con il sacrificio dei loro genitori.
It has an unemployment rate, especially among the young, that in just a few years, has forced a million and a half young Italian people to emigrate, including those with diplomas and degrees gained through the sacrifices of their parents.

E’ ora di dire basta, questa commedia deve finire o finirà il Paese.
Now is the time to say “basta”. That’s enough! This farce must end or it will be the end of our country.

Non abbiamo più tempo, dobbiamo mandarli tutti a casa.
There’s no time left. We have to send them all home.

Tutti coloro che fanno parte di questo marcio sistema, devono andarsene, sparire.
All those that are part of this rotten system have to go, they have to disappear.

Ma prima devono giustificare il loro eventuale arricchimento.
But before that, they have to justify any increase in wealth that they may have amassed.

Io non chiedo il tuo voto.
I’m not asking for your vote.

Non mi interessa il tuo voto senza la tua partecipazione alla cosa pubblica, il tuo coinvolgimento diretto.
I’m not interested in your vote without your participation in public affairs, without your direct involvement.

Se il tuo voto per il M5S è una semplice delega a qualcuno che decida al tuo posto, non votarci.
If your vote for the M5S is simply a way of delegating someone to decide for you, then don’t vote for us.

Questo Paese lo possiamo cambiare solo insieme, non c’è alternativa.
If we are to change this country, then we have to do it all together.There’s no other way.

Usciamo dal buio e torniamo a rivedere le stelle.
We will come out of the darkness and once more we will see the stars.

Lo Stato deve proteggere i cittadini o non è uno Stato.
The State must protect the citizens, or it’s not a State.

Per questo va istituito il reddito di cittadinanza.
This is why we need a citizen’s income.

Io sono Stato, tu sei Stato, noi siamo Stato.
I am the State, you are the State, we are the State.
