5 Star statistics giving hope
Lo Tsunami che ha travolto la politica italiana ha spazzato via uno tra i Parlamenti più vecchi d’Europa (55 anni di media) restituendo i parlamentari più giovani di tutto il mondo occidentale e dell’intera storia della Repubblica.
The Tsunami that has overwhelmed Italian politics has swept away one of the oldest parliaments in Europe (average age: 55 years) in return for the youngest parliamentarians in the whole of the western world and in the entire history of the Republic.
L’età media, tra Camera e Senato, è di 48 anni, più bassa rispetto non solo a quella dei paesi dell’UE, ma anche a quella degli Stati Uniti, tutti con un’età media di oltre 50 anni.
The average age considering both the Lower House and the Senate, is 48 years, which is lower than any other country in the EU, and also lower than in the USA.All of those countries have an average age above 50 years.
I deputati eletti avranno un’età media di 45 anni e i senatori di 53 anni.
The average age of the elected deputies (in the Lower House) is 45 years and of the senators is 53 years.
Nella scorsa legislatura l’età media dei deputati era di 54 anni (9 anni di differenza) mentre quella dei senatori di 57 anni (4 anni di differenza).
This can be compared to the ages of the parliamentarians who are stepping down where the average age of people in the Lower House was 54 years (9 years difference) and in the Upper House was 57 years (4 years difference).

Quello del MoVimento 5 Stelle è anche il gruppo con la maggiore percentuale di laureati: l’88%; in coda alla classifica il pd con il 67% e la lega con il 40%.

Lo Tsunami ha tinto di rosa l’arco parlamentare: non c’erano mai state così tante donne in tutta l’avventura repubblicana.
The Tsunami has given a rose-coloured effect to the parliamentary picture:there have never been so many females in the whole lifetime of the Republic.
Nella legislatura precedente la presenza femminile era pari ad appena il 21% alla Camera e il 19% al Senato mentre nel nuovo Parlamento è al 31%, il 32% alla Camera e il 30% al Senato.
In the previous parliament only 21% of the members of the Lower House were women and in the Senate just 19% were women, whereas in the new parliament, the equivalent figures are 31% of women overall with 32% in the Lower House and 30% in the Senate.
La percentuale tra i parlamentari M5S è superiore alla media con il 38%, ultima la Lega Nord con il 14%.
The percentage of women among the M5S parliamentarians is higher than the average with 38%, and in last place is the Lega with 14%.
La parlamentare più giovane è la portavoce Marta Grande (25 anni), del M5S Lazio, l’eletto più anziano è il senatore Sergio Zavoli (89 anni) del pd.
The youngest parliamentarian is the M5S Lazio spokesperson Marta Grande (25 years), and the oldest elected senator is Sergio Zavoli (89 years) of the PD.
La classe dirigente rimane invece, per ora, la più vecchia d’Europa con una età media di 59 anni, con punte di 67 anni per i banchieri, di 63 per i professori universitari e di 61 per i dirigenti delle partecipate statali.
However, for now, the ruling class is the oldest in Europe with an average age of 59 years, with 67 years for the bankers, 63 for the university professors and 61 for the directors of the companies partially or wholly controlled by the State.
Vincenzo Atella direttore del Ceis (“Centre for Economic and International Studies”) di Tor Vergata, ha realizzato uno studio sul problema della gerontocrazia in Italia e ha dichiarato:
Vincenzo Atella, director of CEIS (“Centre for Economic and International Studies”) of “Tor Vergata” in the University of Rome has carried out a study on the issue of gerontocracy in Italy and he said:
”Il breve orizzonte di vita della classe dirigente non permette di investire in innovazione.
”the shorter life horizon of the elder ruling class does not allow for investment in innovation.
In particolare dal nostro studio emerge la correlazione tra gerontocrazia e mancati investimenti in Ict a causa dell’incapacità di comprendere le opportunità offerte dalle nuove tecnologie.
In particular our study shows the correlation between gerontocracy and the lack of investment in ICT because of their inability to understand the opportunities offered by the new technologies.
Un Parlamento con un età media più giovane è in grado di cogliere queste opportunità.
A Parliament with a younger average age is in a position to make use of these opportunities.
In questo momento è questo ciò di cui il Paese ha bisogno per ritornare sul sentiero di crescita”.
