Open letter to the leaders of the security forces

Lettera aperta a Leonardo Gallitelli, Comandante generale dell’Arma dei Carabinieri, Alessandro Pansa, capo della Polizia di Stato e Claudio Graziano, Capo di stato maggiore dell’Esercito italiano.
Open letter to Leonardo Gallitelli, General Commander of the Carabinieri, Alessandro Pansa, Commander of the State Police and Claudio Graziano, Chief of the Army General Staff of the Italian Army.

“Mi rivolgo a voi che avete la responsabilità della sicurezza del Paese.
“I am writing to you as you have responsibility for the security of the country.

Questo è un appello per l’Italia.
This is an appeal for Italy.

Il momento storico che stiamo vivendo è molto pericoloso.
This moment in history that we are experiencing right now, is a very dangerous one.

Le istituzioni sono delegittimate.
The institutions have been delegitimised.

>>> La legge elettorale è stata considerata incostituzionale.
The electoral law has been declared unconstitutional.

Parlamento, Governo e Presidente della Repubblica stanno svolgendo arbitrariamente le loro funzioni.
Parliament, the Government and the President of the Republic are arbitrarily carrying out their functions.

E’ indifferente che qualche costituzionalista, qualche giornalista, qualche politico affermi il contrario, questi sono i fatti, questo è il comune sentire della nazione.
It doesn’t matter that some people who are constitutionalists, journalists, or politicians, are saying that’s not the case.These are the facts. This is the common feeling in the nation

I partiti sono anch’essi delegittimati dai continui scandali, dalla trattativa Stato – mafia, dalla contiguità di alcuni loro membri con la criminalità organizzata, dall’indifferenza verso i problemi del Paese, dall’appropriazione indebita di 2,3 miliardi di euro di finanziamenti pubblici bocciati dalla volontà popolare attraverso un referendum.
Even the parties have been delegitimised by the continual scandals, by the negotiations between the State and the mafia, by the closeness of some of their members with organised crime, by their indifference in relation to the problems of the country, by the unauthorised appropriation of 2.3 billion euro of public financing that was rejected by the people in a referendum.

La gestione della cosa pubblica, dei servizi sociali, dalla sanità alla scuola alla sicurezza è allo sbando.
The management of the public resources, of social services, of the health service, of education and of law and order, is in a mess.

L’economia è al tracollo.
The economy is collapsing.

La disoccupazione, in particolare giovanile, sta arrivando a livelli intollerabili.
Rates of unemployment, especially for young people, are reaching intolerable levels.

La piccola e media impresa sta scomparendo.
Small and medium sized enterprises are disappearing.

Il Governo è inesistente, capace solo di continue dichiarazioni di ottimismo subito smentite dai fatti il giorno seguente.
The Government is non-existent. It’s only capable of making continual declarations of optimism that are immediately proved wrong by the events happening the following day.

I partiti hanno occupato ogni spazio, dall’economia, all’informazione, alla destinazione dei soldi pubblici per foraggiare le lobby da cui provengono spesso i loro appartenenti.
The parties have occupied every space, ranging from the economy, to news provision, to the destination of public money to feed the lobbies from where their own members often come.

L’Italia ha perso la sovranità monetaria, la sovranità fiscale e si appresta a perdere ben presto anche quella economica con l’ipotesi più che probabile di essere strangolata dalle politiche recessive del Fondo Monetario Internazionale.
Italy has lost monetary sovereignty, fiscal sovereignty and it’s about to lose its economic sovereignty with the most likely hypothesis being that of strangulation by the recessionary policies of the International Monetary Fund.

Gran parte dei cittadini è tenuta all’oscuro della reale situazione in cui versa il Paese grazie a un regime di disinformazione che pone l’Italia al 70esimo posto per la libertà di stampa dopo molti Stati del cosiddetto Terzo Mondo.
Most of the citizens are being kept in the dark about the real situation that the country is hurtling into, thanks to a disinformation regime that places Italy in the 70th position on the “freedom of the press” ranking, where it lags behind many States that are considered to be of the Third World.

I disordini di ieri in tutta Italia sono per la maggior parte dovuti a gente esasperata per le sue condizioni di vita e per l’arroganza, la sordità, il menefreghismo di una classe politica che non rinuncia ad alcun privilegio, tesa soltanto a perpetuare sé stessa.
The disturbances that took place yesterday throughout Italy were mostly caused by the exasperation of the people because of their quality of life and the arrogance of a political class that is not doing without any privileges, but is just intent on perpetuating their own existence.

La protesta di ieri può essere l’inizio di un incendio o l’annuncio di future rivolte forse incontrollabili.
Yesterday’s protests could be the beginning of a conflagration or the precursor of future uprisings that could perhaps be uncontrollable.

Alcuni agenti di Polizia e della Guardia di Finanza a Torino si sono tolti il casco, si sono fatti riconoscere, hanno guardato negli occhi i loro fratelli.
In Turin, a few officers of the State Police and the Finance Police removed their helmets thus allowing themselves to be recognised. And they looked into the eyes of their brothers.

E’ stato un grande gesto e spero che per loro non vi siano conseguenze disciplinari.
It was a great gesture and I hope there are no disciplinary consequences for them.

Vi chiedo di non proteggere più questa classe politica che ha portato l’Italia allo sfacelo, di non scortarli con le loro macchine blu o al supermercato, di non schierarsi davanti ai palazzi del potere infangati dalla corruzione e dal malaffare.
I’m asking you to no longer give protection to this political class that has brought Italy to its knees.I ask you not to provide body guards for their official blue cars or when they go to the supermarket. I ask you not to line up in front of the magnificent buildings representing the power of those who have been tainted with corruption and shady deals.

Le forze dell’Ordine non meritano un ruolo così degradante.
The security forces don’t deserve such a degrading role.

Gli italiani sono dalla vostra parte, unitevi a loro.
The Italian people are on your side. Join with them.

Nelle prossime manifestazioni ordinate ai vostri ragazzi di togliersi il casco e di fraternizzare con i cittadini.
In the forthcoming demonstrations, order your lads to take off their helmets and fraternise with the citizens.

Sarà un segnale rivoluzionario, pacifico, estremo e l’Italia cambierà.
It’ll be a signal that is revolutionary, peaceful and extreme. And Italy will change.

In alto i cuori.”
