Cambiare le statistiche pur di nascondere la verità si può.
It’s possible to alter the statistics so as to hide the truth.
A giugno 2013 l’Istat trasformò il calcolo dell’indice di fiducia degli italiani ottenendo un aumento di ben 20 punti celebrato da Saccomanni (regalategli un lampadario) e Letta come l’ennesima luce in fondo al tunnel.
In June 2013 the Statistics agency, Istat, altered the way it calculates the Consumer Confidence Index and got an increase of 20 points.This was met with great celebrations by Saccomanni (give him a light source) and by Letta who heralded it as the umpteenth light at the end of the tunnel.
Da allora gli italiani sorridono alla vita.
From that moment on, Italians have been smiling at life.
Ora ci risiamo.
Now we’re laughing.

Il tutto al fine di abbandonare l’ESA 95 (European system of national accounts) e allineare il calcolo del PIL europeo alla analoga metodologia di calcolo americana.
All this is aimed at abandoning the ESA 95 (European system of national accounts) and bringing the calculation of GDP into line with how it is done in America.
L’Europa riparte alla grande.
Europe starts off great!
Alcuni Paesi europei hanno già fornito i nuovi risultati con delle simulazioni.
A few European countries have already used simulations to give the new results.
Siamo tutti più ricchi e la luce splende in fondo al tunnel.
We are all much richer and there’s a fabulous light shining at the end of the tunnel.
Per l’Italia, durante il periodo 2010-2012, vi è un aumento di PIL di più di un punto percentuale.
In the period, 2010-2012, Italy had an increase of one percentage point in GDP.
I cacciabombardieri F-35 diventano un ottimo investimento, in fondo portano lavoro.
The fighter planes F-35 become a great investment, basically they create jobs.
Gli altri Paesi europei anticipano addirittura un sensibile miglioramento: la Gran Bretagna di 4%, Svezia e Finlandia di 5%.
The other European countries are even looking forward to a notable improvement: Great Britain: 4%, Sweden and Finland: 5%.
Se il risultato di 1-2 punti percentuali in più sarà confermato per l’Italia avremo 500 ai 900 milioni di euro da spendere in quanto diventati virtuosi per la UE.
If the results of 1-2 percentage points are confirmed for Italy, we’ll have from 500 to 900 million euro to spend, as we’ll become “virtuous” in the eyes of the EU.
Il problema è che i soldi non ci sono.
The problem is that the money’s not there.
Preparatevi a sei mesi di chiacchiere su un tesoretto che attribuiranno alle capacità di Capitan Findus Letta e di Gelatina Saccomanni senza spiegare che è solo artificio contabile.
