In Europa è scattata la sirena dell’ “Ognuno per sé e l’euro per tutti”.
In Europe the siren has been triggered and it’s saying “Each for himself and the euro for everyone”.
Le continue manovre, incontri istituzionali, vertici europei, nuove elezioni e rimozioni di primi ministri che si sono susseguiti in questi anni hanno avuto un primario, e non dichiarato obiettivo: diminuire il rischio di Francia e Germania verso i Paesi indebitati.
The continual manoeuvres, institutional meetings, European summits, new elections and removal of prime ministers that have been happening in recent years, have had a primary, and undeclared aim: to reduce the risk of France and Germany in relation to the countries that are in debt.
Quindi verso Grecia, Spagna, Italia, Portogallo e Irlanda: i PiGS.
Thus in relation to Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Ireland: the PIGS.
In caso di default dell’Italia e della Spagna l’intero sistema economico europeo potrebbe infatti collassare.
If it should happen that Italy or Spain were to default then the whole European economic system could in fact collapse.
Persino la piccola Grecia, con un Pil del 3% rispetto a quello dell’intera UE, ha messo in pericolo la stabilità delle banche francesi.
Even tiny Greece, with a GDP that is 3% of that of the whole of the EU, has put the stability of French banks at risk.
Banche e investitori esteri hanno venduto a piene mani i titoli dei maiali che sono stati comprati dalle banche dei maiali grazie al prestito di mille miliardi di euro erogato alle banche dalla BCE.
Banks and foreign investors have sold off at any price the bonds of the PIGS and these have been bought by the banks of the PIGS thanks to a loan from the ECB to the banks to the value of a thousand billion euro.

The debt is returning to the country that is owed the money while foreign investments in the PIGS are drying up.
Dalla crisi finanziaria del 2008 le banche tedesche si sono alleggerite di 301 miliardi di esposizione verso i PIGS, le banche francesi di 204 miliardi.
Since the financial crisis of 2008, the German banks have reduced their exposure to the PIGS by 301 billion and the French banks by 204 billion.
Francia e Germania sono quindi a metà del guado.
Thus France and Germany are stuck at a crossroads.
La Germania ha tagliato del 49,7% l’esposizione verso i Paesi mediterranei e l’Irlanda, e la Francia del 33,4%.
Germany has reduced its exposure to the Mediterranean countries and Ireland by 49.7% and France has reduced its exposure by 33.4%.
Ancora due anni e per loro il rischio PIGS e, di conseguenza il rischio euro, saranno annullati.
In two years time, the risk due to the PIGS (and consequently due to the euro), will be down to zero.
Forse, allora il loro interesse al mantenimento della moneta cosiddetta unica, cosiddetta in quanto adottata solo da alcuni Paesi europei, diminuirà.
Perhaps, then their interest in keeping the so-called “single currency”, (“so-called” since it has been adopted only by certain European countries), will decrease.
L’esposizione PIGS di Francia e Germania è scesa di circa 45 miliardi verso la Grecia, di 170 verso l’Italia, 153 Spagna, 19, 5 Portogallo, 119 Irlanda.
The exposure to PIGS for France and Germany has gone down by about 45 billion in relation to Greece, by 170 in relation to Italy, 153 in relation to Spain, 19.5 in relation to Portugal, and 119 in relation to Ireland.
Un buon lavoro, indubbiamente, ottenuto però con la recessione dei PIGS e il loro continuo sprofondare nella disoccupazione e nella chiusura delle aziende.
Doubtless this is good work, but it has happened while there has been recession in the PIGS that are sinking with higher unemployment and the closure of companies.
Il fenomeno della vendita di titoli dei PIGS sta accelerando.
The phenomenon of the selling off of PIGS bonds is accelerating.
Solo nell’ultimo anno circa il 10% dei titoli pubblici in circolazione di Italia e Spagna sono stati venduti dalle banche estere e ricomprati dalle banche italiane e spagnole.
Just last year, about 10% of public bonds in circulation in Italy and Spain were sold by foreign banks and bought back by Italian and Spanish banks.
Un altro prestito di 1.000 miliardi di euro della BCE alle banche dei PIGS, finanziato in gran parte proprio dai PIGS!e il problema sarà risolto.
Another loan of 1,000 billion euro from the ECB to the banks of the PIGS, (largely financed by the PIGS themselves!), and the problem will be solved.
