Here we are in Rome.
L’ultima tappa, l’ultimo comizio, con la mia ultima voce.
The final stage, the final campaign event, with the final bit of my voice.
Ed ecco la nuova Italia che non ha mai disperato di poter cambiare, di uscire di nuovo dal buio.
And here’s the new Italy that has never despaired of being able to change, of being able to come back out from the darkness.
Quante volte è successo nella nostra Storia?
How many times has this happened in our history?
Gli italiani, questo mosaico di popoli antichi, nei millenni hanno visto tutto, hanno creato ogni cosa.
Over the millennia, the Italian people, this mosaic of ancient peoples, has seen everything, has created everything.
Cinici, distaccati, impermeabili, ma anche pazzi, capaci di invenzioni sociali inaudite.
Cynical, detached, impermeable, but also mad, capable of unheard of social inventions.

History has always gone by these parts.
E noi siamo ancora qui, ancora a Roma per ricominciare ancora una volta.
And we are still here, still in Rome to start again one more time.
Per fare, come ha detto Dario Fo ieri a Milano “Un ribaltone”, quello che non sono riusciti fare i nostri padri nel 1945.
As Dario Fo said yesterday in Milan “we’ll turn things upside down“, in a way that our forefathers didn’t manage to do in 1945.
Ed ecco ancora Roma.
And here we are in Rome again.
E’ prevista forse pioggia, sarà ancora più bello San Giovanni a fine inverno.
The forecast says there may be rain. At the end of winter, Piazza San Giovanni will be even more beautiful.
La ricostruzione dell’Italia su basi sociali, eque, di comunità, di solidarietà può iniziare ora.
The reconstruction of Italy can now begin on the basis of social justice, of equity, of community, and of solidarity.
L’italiano ha perso l’idea di bellezza, di felicità, persino la coscienza di sé stesso, del suo valore, della sua identità.
The Italian has lost the idea of beauty, of happiness, even the awareness of self, of self worth and of personal identity.
Possiamo farcela a uscire dal buio, a riveder le stelle.
We can succeed in coming out of the darkness, of seeing the stars once more.
Non sarà lo spread a fermarci se ognuno farà la sua parte, se ci metteremo in gioco senza paura.
It won’t be the spread that stops us if each person plays their part, if we get involved fearlessly.
Lo Stato siamo noi e ci hanno convinto del contrario.
We are the State and they have convinced us otherwise.
Ci hanno persuaso che lo Stato sono i partiti, che sono le banche, Equitalia, che è la burocrazia inflessibile con gli onesti.
They have persuaded us that the State is the parties, the banks, the Equitalia tax collectors, that it is the bureaucracy that is inflexible with honest people.
Ci hanno convinto che la democrazia è essere sudditi, che ribellarsi è populismo, qualunquismo, antipolitica.
They have convinced us that democracy is being vassals and that to rebel is populism, “qualunquism”, antipolitics.
A Roma dobbiamo far sentire la nostra voce.
In Rome we have to make our voice heard.
Deve sentirsi fino a Sidney, a Buenos Aires, a Pechino.
It has to be heard as far away as Sydney, Buenos Aires, and Beijing.
Deve annunciare che in Italia tornerà la democrazia, che siamo arrivati e non ce ne andremo più.
It has to proclaim that democracy will come back to Italy, that we have arrived and that we are never going away again.
Gli italiani sono indistruttibili, ci hanno provato in tutti modi a fiaccarli, a immiserirli, a renderli servi, ma nessuno ci è mai riuscito a lungo.
Italians are indestructible, they have tried in all ways to weaken them, to impoverish them, to make them subservient. But no one has ever succeeded for long.
Ho visto in questo lungo viaggio nell’Italia di domani migliaia di volti felici, di persone sorridenti, illuminate dalla speranza di un futuro e questa felicità, questa speranza portano già in loro la consapevolezza del cambiamento.
In this long journey across the Italy of tomorrow, I’ve seen thousands of happy faces, of smiling people, illuminated with the hope of a future and this happiness, this hope is already there inside them bringing the awareness of change.
Abbiamo già cambiato l’Italia, abbiamo già vinto.
We have already changed Italy. We have already won.
Ed ecco Roma.
