Politicians under house arrest
La scorta c’è chi ce l’ha e chi non ce l’ha.
There are those that have bodyguards and those that don’t.
Don Puglisi, il giornalista Beppe Alfano, uccisi dalla criminalità organizzata e Marco Biagi, assassinato dalle Nuove Brigate Rosse per esempio non l’avevano.
For example, Don Puglisi, the jourrnalist Beppe Alfano, killed by organised crime, didn’t have bodyguards nor did Marco Biagi, killed by the Nuove Brigate Rosse {New Red Brigades}.
I coniugi Mastella, gli ex ministri Cirino Pomicino, Oliviero Diliberto e Claudio Scajola e gli ex presidenti della Camera Marcello Pera e Fausto Bertinotti per esempio ce l’hanno.

In altri Paesi europei i ministri si spostano in bicicletta e in Austria solo due esponenti del Governo hanno una scorta: il presidente della Repubblica e il Cancelliere federale.
In other European countries, government ministers travel around on a bicycle and in Austria only two people in the Government have bodyguards:the President of the Republic and the Federal Chancellor.

La prima misura presa da Alfano, in anticipo persino sulla fiducia del Senato al Governo Letta, è stata la protezione dei 21 ministri con un ulteriore costo di circa cinque milioni di euro.
Alfano’s first action, decided even before the Senate had given a vote of confidence to the Letta government, was to set up the protection arrangement for the 21 ministers at a further cost of five million euro.

Se venissero tagliate le scorte, e il M5S farà in modo che questo avvenga, si otterrebbero di colpo tre benefici:

risparmiare 250 milioni di euro all’anno, liberare 4.000 agenti per l’ordine pubblico e i domiciliari senza sentenza per i politici scortati.
saving 250 million euro a year, freeing up 4,000 officers to look after public order and house arrest without a verdict for the politicians who had bodyguards.
Non li vedremmo più in giro.
