Il M5S per i diritti dei bambini malati
M5S supporting the rights of sick children
Filippo Festini, presidente della Società Italiana di Scienze Infermieristiche Pediatriche ha inviato una lettera al M5S per ringraziare dell’attenzione e della competenza dimostrate nella presentazione della mozione M5S, prima firmataria Maria Mussini, che propone una valorizzazione del ruolo degli infermieri pediatrici.
Filippo Festini, President of the Società Italiana di Scienze Infermieristiche Pediatriche {Italian Society of Pediatric Nursing Science}, has sent a letter to the M5S to say “thank you” for the attention and the care taken in presenting the M5S motion, signed first by Maria Mussini, proposing an enhancement of the role of pediatric nurses.

“Gentilissima senatrice Mussini,
“Dear Senator Mussini,
mi chiamo Filippo Festini e sono il presidente della Società Italiana di Scienze Infermieristiche Pediatriche (SISIP), una società scientifica e un’associazione professionale a cui fanno riferimento gli Infermieri Pediatrici italiani.
I’m Filippo Festini, the president of the Italian Society of Pediatric Nursing Science, (SISIP), a scientific society and a professional association for Italian Pediatric Nurses.
>>> Desidero esprimerle la gratitudine degli Infermieri Pediatrici e mia personale, per l’ Atto da lei presentato l’8 luglio scorso al Senato.
I would like to express my own gratitude as well as that of pediatric nurses for the proposal that you presented to the Senate on 8 July.
La proposta da lei presentata è a nostro avviso la più completa, ragionevole, chiara e sensata che sia mai stata fatta da un politico sull’argomento.
We believe that the proposal that you presented is the most complete, reasonable, clear and judicious that has ever been put together on this topic, by a politician.
Negli ultimi anni la figura professionale dell’Infermiere Pediatrico, benchè prevista nel nostro ordinamento da oltre 70 anni è stata largamente inutilizzata o sottoutilizzata dal Sistema Sanitario, ivi compresi molti ospedali pediatrici e ospedali generali a forte indirizzo pediatrico.
In recent years, the role of the professional pediatric nurse, though it is one recognised by our regulations for more than 70 years, has been widely underused by the health service, including many children’s hospitals and general hospitals specialising in pediatrics.
Molto spesso preferiscono assumere Infermieri generalisti -dunque non specializzati- e non bandire concorsi per la specifica figura professionale a cui il nostro ordinamento affida l’assistenza infermieristica ai bambini malati.
Often they prefer to take on general nurses – who thus have not specialised – rather than setting up recruitment procedures specifically for a professional pediatric nurse to look after the nursing needs of sick children.
Questo sta creando problemi e incertezza ai numerosi laureati in Infermieristica Pediatrica che ancora attendono di vedere riconosciuto il loro ruolo nel Sistema Sanitario Nazionale e rischia di far peggiorare la qualità delle cure che il SSN eroga ai piccoli pazienti.
This is creating problems and uncertainty for the numerous people graduating in pediatric nursing who are still waiting to see their specialisation recognised in the National Health System and there’s the risk that the quality of care for young patients provided by the health system will get worse.
Ci rassicura quindi il sapere che nostri rappresentanti nelle istituzioni si stanno facendo carico di questi problemi e tentano di risolverli!
Thus it is reassuring to know that our representatives in the institutions are tackling these issues and trying to resolve them.
La SISIP è a sua completa disposizione per ogni ulteriore iniziativa che intender à intraprendere per valorizzare la figura professionale dell’Infermiere Pediatrico.
The SISIP is very keen to offer assistance for any other initiative that you want to take forward to enhance the professional role of pediatric nurses.
Saremmo felici se, a suo comodo, potrà concederci l’opportunità di un incontro per poterle illustrare le nostre iniziative che sono rivolte non solo alla tutela dei professionisti Infermieri Pediatrici ma anche alla promozione dei diritti dei bambini malati in ospedale ed alla diffusione della cultura della “atraumaticità” dell’assistenza pediatrica.
We would be delighted to meet up with you at your convenience and tell you about our initiatives aimed at protecting not just pediatric nursing professionals but also promoting the rights of sick children in hospital and raising awareness of the culture of “minimising trauma“ when looking after children.
