Only the facts count
In politica come nella vita, dopo le “speranze”, alla fine contano solo i fatti.
In politics as in life, after “hopes”, in the end only the facts count.
20 Aprile 2013: i parlamentari del Pd non votano né Prodi (fondatore del Pd e dell’Ulivo e l’unico ad aver sconfitto Berlusconi nelle urne due volte) e nemmeno Rodotà (costituzionalista di sinistra e non del Movimento 5 Stelle) come presidente della Repubblica.
On 20 April 2013: the PD parliamentarians didn’t vote for Prodi (founder of both the PD and the Olive Party and the only person to have twice beaten Berlusconi in the elections) and nor did they vote for Rodotà (a left wing constitutionalist and not a member of the 5 Star MoVement) to be President of the Republic.
Preferiscono rieleggere l’88enne Giorgio Napolitano insieme a Berlusconi.
They preferred to elect the 88-year-old Giorgio Napolitano together with Berlusconi.
29 maggio 2013: Alla Camera il Pd insieme al Pdl vota contro la mozione Giacchetti (Pd) per abolire il porcellum e tornare alla legge elettorale precedente (voto a favore solo da parte di Movimento 5 Stelle e Sel).
29 May 2013: In the Lower House, the PD together with the PDL voted against the motion proposed by the PD’s Giacchetti to abolish the “Porcellum” electoral law and return to the previous electoral laws (the only ones voting for this were the 5 Star MoVement and SEL).
Nello stesso giorno il Senato boccia la mozione del Movimento 5 Stelle che propone strumenti di democrazia diretta tramite referendum, leggi popolari discusse obbligatoriamente, la riduzione dei parlamentari e dei consiglieri regionali, l’ abolizione delle Province, l’elezione diretta dei candidati, l’ineleggibilità per i condannati ed il limite di due mandati.
On the same day, the Senate rejected the motion put forward by the 5 Star MoVement proposing tools for direct democracy like referendums, the obligation to discuss popular laws, the reduction in the number of parliamentarians and regional councillors, the abolition of provinces, the direct election of candidates, the ineligibility of people with criminal convictions and the limit of two terms of office.
8 agosto 2013: In Senato il Pd insieme al Pdl vota “no” alla richiesta di esame d’urgenza della legge elettorale “Parlamento Pulito” proposta dal M5S (sulla base della legge popolare del 2007 mai discussa in tutti questi anni).
8 August 2013: In the Senate, the PD and the PDL voted “no” to the request for an urgent examination of the “Clean Up Parliament“ electoral laws put forward by the M5S (on the basis of the 2007 popular law that has not been discussed in all these years).
La proposta conteneva anche l’elezione diretta da parte dei cittadini dei candidato a Camera e Senato.
The proposal even covered the opportunity for citizens to vote directly for candidates hoping to become members of the Lower or Upper House.
Questi i fatti, ai quali potremmo aggiungere il voto contrario del Pd sulle mozioni contro gli F35, per istituire il reddito di cittadinanza, per tagliare l’Irap e l’Imu sulla prima casa, per abolire il finanziamento pubblico ai partiti.
These are the facts and to these we could add the PD’s contrary vote in relation to the motions against the F35 bombers, to bring in the citizen’s income, to cut the Irap tax on production and the Imu tax on a primary residence, to abolish financing to the parties.
In questo Parlamento, non per colpa dei parlamentari del M5S, non esiste una maggioranza parlamentare per cambiare in senso democratico la legge elettorale esistente contro la quale il M5S si è sempre battuto.
In this Parliament, through no fault of the M5S parliamentarians, there is no parliamentary majority to change the existing electoral law (that the M5S has always been fighting against) to be more democratic.
Il Pd(menoelle) la finisca di dare la colpa ad altri per quello che non ha mai fatto in 8 anni e neanche in questi 5 mesi.
Let the PDminusL stop blaming the others for what it has failed to do in the last 8 years and even in these last 5 months.
Se le “speranze” non si tramutano mai in fatti, si tratta solo di prese in giro per i cittadini.
If “hopes” never get converted into facts, it’s just a way of taking the citizens for a ride.
