Immaginiamo che uno Stato straniero dichiari guerra all’Italia. E che usi la sua flotta per invaderci.
Let’s imagine that a foreign State declares war on Italy. And that it uses its fleet of ships to invade.
Pearl Harbour sembrerebbe una passeggiata al confronto.

Il peschereccio, di venti metri di lunghezza, affondato a Lampedusa è apparso all’improvviso a cinque chilometri dal porto di Lampedusa dove risiede la guardia costiera.

L’imbarcazione carica di immigranti, si presume circa 500, era partita dal porto libico di Misurata senza essere intercettata mentre superava i nostri confini marittimi.

Si lascia che le tragedie del mare accadano come fatti inevitabili, scontati, imputabili al Fato quando possono essere invece evitate sia contrastando la partenza delle navi insieme agli Stati di provenienza, sia con l’intervento della guardia costiera quando le navi varcano i nostri confini con l’arresto degli scafisti e la protezione dei migranti fino al loro sbarco dopo il quale verranno identificati.
Tragedies at sea are allowed to happen as though they are inevitable, taken for granted, attributable to destiny, when in fact they can be avoided by working with the States where they are setting out to sea to make sure the ships don’t set out and by having the Coast Guard intervene when the ships enter our territorial waters with the arrest of the people traffickers and the protection of the migrants until they can disembark and then undergo identity checks.

Aboliamo i confini, come sono ora non servono a nulla.
Let’s abolish the borders as they are now. They are useless.
Dichiariamo l’Italia “Nazione aperta” senza frontiere in cui non entrare più di nascosto, prendendo rischi anche enormi, sarebbe meglio di questa ipocrisia che si nutre delle disgrazie di cui è colpevole e che non fa nulla per prevenirle.
Let’s declare Italy to be an “Open Country” without borders where no one has to come in secretly, taking enormous risks. It would be better than this hypocrisy feeding on calamity that the State is guilty of, while doing nothing to prevent it.
