gli emendamenti da loro proposti attraverso un portale, il sistema operativo LEX, sono stati discussi, votati e poi approvati all’unanimità dalla Commissione Ambiente.

Il rapporto Pedicini nasce dall’esigenza di tutelare i diritti dei pazienti di tutta Europa.
The Pedicini report came into being because of the need to protect the rights of patients everywhere in Europe.
Diritti negati da politiche economiche sbagliate (austerity) e dalla gestione politico/clientelare dei sistemi sanitari.
These are rights that have been denied by the application of misguided economic policies (austerity) and by the management of the healthcare systems based on political considerations or according to a system of patronage.
Secondo gli ultimi dati disponibili, il 5-10% dei pazienti ricoverati negli ospedali europei (oltre 3 milioni di persone) subisce danni o addirittura eventi avversi che potrebbero essere evitati.
According to the latest figures available, 5-10% of patients in European hospitals (more than 3 million people) suffer harm or even adverse events that could be avoided.
Molti di questi (il 20-30% circa) sono considerati come prevenibili.
Many of these (about 20-30%) are considered to be preventable.
Questo avviene perché i governi pensano solo a tagliare i posti letto degli ospedali, le spese per le pulizie, risparmiano su disinfettanti, guanti e quei presidi sanitari che possono ridurre al minimi il rischio di insorgenza di infezioni.
This comes about because the governments are just thinking about cutting the number of beds in hospitals, cutting expenditure on cleaning, saving on the use of disinfectants, gloves and any equipment that can reduce the risk of infection.
Con questo rapporto l’Europa impegna gli Stati membri ad assicurare qualità del personale sanitario con l’aggiornamento professionale continuo, l’esclusione di ogni forma di conflitto di interessi e con la identificazione di sistemi di avvertimento preventivi e di sorveglianza attiva.
With this report, Europe is committing the member States to ensure that healthcare personnel are working to high level quality standards and they are continuously developing their professional competences. It ensures that there is the exclusion of any form of conflict of interests and it identifies early-warning systems as well as active surveillance.
