IL BLOG DI DAISY – A nervous win for England

Yesterday there was a minute’s silence at Wembley to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Munich Plane Disaster when seven players of Manchester United, plus members of its staff, journalists and others died.

The match kicked off to boos and jeering at David Beckham’s absence. He is still very much a favourite with the British and hadn’t been allowed to take part in what would have been his hundredth cap!

The team seemed extremely nervous at Don Fabio’s (as Mr. Capello is jokingly called in the newspapers) first match. The players seemed to have forgotten what ‘formation’ meant and there was a certain gloom in the air. It seemed that the soberly dressed and stern-faced Fabio had certainly made his mark.

•••>Then the English team seemed to find themselves, thanks chiefly to a couple of players’ efforts, and they managed to win 2-1.

Previously Mr. Hair had given his press conference in Italian but explained that he studies English in the mornings. Could it be that also the English team are also busy studying a foreign language – Italian, so that they can manage to understand him?
