La crisi delle banche irlandesi non è una novità, come non lo era quella della Grecia e come non lo saranno le crisi di Portogallo, Italia e Spagna.
The crisis of the Irish banks is no novelty, no more than the one in Greece was and just as the crises to come in Portugal, Italy and Spain won’t be.

Questione di mesi.
It’s a matter of months.

Ogni volta ci si stupirà come di fronte a un improvviso temporale estivo.
Each time there’ll be shock like there is when there’s a sudden summer thunderstorm.

Ieri la Merkel ha dichiarato che la crisi è estremamente grave e l’euro è a rischio.
Yesterday Merkel announced that the crisis is extremely serious and that the Euro is at risk.

E noi che non lo sapevamo…
And we who didn’t know that …

I politici danno brutte notizie solo se costretti, attendono l’ultimo istante per evitarci delle sofferenze inutili.
Politicians give bad news only if they are obliged to. They wait until the last possible moment, to save us from useless suffering.

Discutere dell’Irlanda o, a inizio 2010, del default greco, equivale a concentrarsi sul foro di un catino bucato.
To have a discussion about Ireland, or at the beginning of 2010, of the default by Greece, is equivalent to concentrating on the hole in a holy bucket.

I Paesi emergenti, il cosiddetto BRIC:

Brasile, Russia, India e Cina, hanno un debito pubblico contenuto e stanno comprando quello occidentale.
Brazil, Russia, India and China, have a limited public debt and they are buying up the debt from the West.

Se la Cina vendesse tutti i titoli di Stato americani che possiede, pari a 883,5 miliardi di dollari, gli Stati Uniti potrebbero fallire.
If China were to sell all the American State bonds that it owns, with a value of 883.5 billion dollars, the United States could collapse.

Il mondo si sta spostando a Sud e a Est.
The world is shifting to the South and to the East.

Il PIL dei Paesi del BRIC sta per superare quello del G6 (Germania, Italia, Francia, Stati Uniti, Gran Bretagna e Giappone).
The GDP of the BRIC countries is about to be greater than that of the G6 (Germany, Italy, France, United States, Great Britain e Japan).

I Paesi del BRIC hanno un debito pubblico rapportato al PIL molto basso:
The BRIC countries have a very low public debt to GDP ratio:

Russia 6%, Cina 18%, Brasile 45%, India 59%.

L’Italia, per dire, è al 118% con 80 miliardi di euro di interessi annui da pagare, una cifra che ammazzerebbe un elefante.
Just think, Italy’s is 118% with 80 billion euro in annual interest to be paid, a figure that would kill an elephant.

Gli Stati Uniti stanno per raggiungere l’Everest dei 14.000 miliardi di dollari di debito pubblico dai 6.000 miliardi del 2002.
The United States are about to reach the Everest of 14,000 billion dollars of public debt compared to 6,000 billion in 2002.

In passato le guerre si combattevano con le armi, oggi si combattono con il debito pubblico.
In the past, wars were fought with weapons, today they are fought with public debt.

Chi compra il tuo debito diventa il tuo padrone.
Whoever buys your public debt becomes your master.

Gli Stati Uniti, il Paese più indebitato, è responsabile del 50% delle spese militari mondiali.
The United States, the most indebted country, Is responsible for 50% of the world’s military spending.

Una enormità.
An enormous amount.

La Russia, l’antagonista storico, spende il 3,5%.
Russia, the historical antagonist, is spending 3.5%.

Gli Stati Uniti trasformano il debito in armamenti.
The United States is transforming the debt into weapons.

In pratica chi compra titoli di Stato statunitensi finanzia la guerra in Afghanistan o le basi militari di Dal Molin di Vicenza e di Okinawa in Giappone dove sono accampati da 65 anni.
So basically anyone buying United States stocks is financing the war in Afghanistan and the military bases of Dal Molin of Vicenza and of Okinawa where they have been settled in for 65 years.

L’Impero Romano crollò sotto la spinta dei barbari ai suoi confini.
The Roman Empire collapsed under the attack of the barbarians at its borders.

Le sue legioni si ritirarono dal Reno alla Britannia.
Its legions withdrew from the Rhine and from Britain.

Gli Stati Uniti forse seguiranno la stessa sorte per l’impossibilità economica di mantenere 716 basi militari in 40 Paesi.
Perhaps the United States will follow the same idea because of the economic impossibility of keeping 716 military bases in 40 countries.

L’Irlanda è un sintomo del tramonto dell’Occidente travolto dal suo debito pubblico.
Ireland is a symptom of the sunset of the West overcome by its public debt.

L’inverno sta arrivando per le cicale europee e americane e fuori fa sempre più freddo.
Winter is arriving for the European and American cicadas and outside its getting colder still.
