Ma qualcuno sano di mente pensa realmente che con 19 milioni di pensionati e 4 milioni di dipendenti pubblici possiamo farcela?
But is there anyone of sane mind that really thinks that with 19 million pensioners and 4 million public sector employees we can do it?

Per mantenerli vengono spalati ogni anno nelle caldaie della locomotiva Italia, sempre più lenta, in affanno, con salite ormai proibitive, altri 100 miliardi di debito pubblico, come fossero carbone, che corrispondono almeno a 5 miliardi di interessi annui in più.
Every year, to keep them going, another 100 billion in public debt is shovelled into the engine of “Locomotive Italy”, as though it were coal. The locomotive is going slower and slower, making heavy weather of it, with uphill stretches that by now are even more impossible.That money corresponds to extra annual interest of at least 5 billion.

Pagati dai sempre più rari contribuenti, le aziende chiudono e ci sono 4 milioni di disoccupati.
Paid by the tax-payers who are becoming fewer and fewer. Companies are closing down and there are 4 million people unemployed.

Il tasso sul nostro debito sale e gli interessi non possono che aumentare.
The interest rate on our public debt is going up and the amount due in interest can only go up.

Nel 2011, se va bene, pagheremo 100 miliardi di interessi.
If all goes well, in 2011, we will pay 100 billion in interest.

Il numero di dipendenti pubblici è pari alla popolazione dell’Irlanda e noi stiamo a fare il tricchetracche sulle Province.
The number of public employees equals the population of Ireland and we are “toing and froing” with the provinces.

Vanno chiuse tutte, che altro c’è da discutere?
They all have to be closed down. What further discussion is needed?

Le pensioni vanno riviste nel loro insieme.
Pensions have to be reviewed as a whole system.

Non ha senso che ci siano doppie e triple pensioni, una basta e avanza.
It doesn’t make sense that there are double and triple pensions. One is more than enough.

Le pensioni in essere vanno erogate con il metodo contributivo, tanto hai dato, tanto prendi (esattamente il contrario delle pensioni dei parlamentari) e comunque le pensioni devono avere un tetto non superabile, 3.000 euro mi sembrano equi e di un minimo per chi non dispone di redditi sufficienti per vivere.
Existing pensions need to be paid out according to how much you have paid in. If you’ve paid in this much, then that is how much you will receive (exactly the opposite of the parliamentary pensions) and anyway pensions have to have an absolute maximum that cannot be breached. 3,000 euro to me seems fair and then a minimum for those who don’t have enough to live on.

I manager che hanno guadagnato milioni di euro nella loro vita non hanno bisogno di una pensione di 10/20.000 euro al mese, lo stipendio annuo di un impegato.
Managers, who have earned millions of euro in their lives, don’t need a pension of 10 to 20 thousand euro a month, like the annual salary of an office worker.

Non è possibile dividere l’Italia in due sulle pensioni con la strategia del “Chi ha dato, ha dato. Chi ha avuto, ha avuto”. E’ pericoloso.
It’s not possible to divide Italy into two according to pensions, with the strategy of “Those who have paid in, have paid in. Those who have received, have received.” It’s dangerous.

I giovani, ma anche molti quarantenni e cinquantenni, in pensione non ci andranno mai.
The young people, but also many in their forties and fifties, will never retire and have a pension.

Perché devono pagare con tasse e contributi la pensione a Mastella, a Amato o a un consigliere regionale della Lombardia o della Sicilia?
Via various sorts of taxes, why do they have to pay for a pension for Mastella, or Amato or a regional councillor from Lombardy or Sicily?

Questo non ha senso.
This doesn’t make sense.

La riforma delle pensioni deve iniziare da chi in pensione c’è già senza alzare continuamente l’asticella dell’età pensionabile accampando la scusa risibile dell’aspettativa di vita.
Pension reform has to start with those who are already getting a pension, without continually raising the pension age based on the ludicrous excuse of life expectancy.

Non me frega un cazzo delle statistiche.
I couldn’t care less about the statistics.

Dopo 35 anni di contributi ho il diritto di riposarmi.
After 35 years of contributions I have the right to rest.

Un operaio non andrà in pensione a 70 anni, sarà morto prima.
A labourer won’t retire until he’s 70 years old. He’ll die before that.

I giovani non hanno più nulla da perdere, non il lavoro, non la pensione, non i servizi sociali, non la speranza di un futuro migliore.
Young people have nothing left to lose. They’ve no work, no pension, no social services, no hope for a better future.

Nella manovra economica non è stata spesa una parola per loro.
In the austerity package, no one wasted a word on them.

Attenti alla loro rabbia.
Watch out for their anger.

Quando le nuove generazioni capiranno che oggi sono soprattutto loro a pagare la crisi e che in futuro erediteranno il debito pubblico, non sarà più possibile alcuna mediazione.
When the new generations understand that today it will be them above all paying for the crisis and that in future they will inherit the public debt, no type of mediation will be possible anymore.

L’aria che tira è sempre più brutta.
The way the wind is blowing, is getting worse and worse.
