Sono arrivato a Barcellona per la mia tournée e ho trovato piazza Catalunya piena di ragazzi che chiedevano un cambiamento radicale dell’attuale modello di (sotto) sviluppo e la partecipazione diretta alla democrazia.
I’ve arrived in Barcelona for my tour and I found Piazza Catalunya full of young people asking for radical change to the current model of (under) development and direct participation in democracy.

Ho sentito aria di casa.
I smelled the air of home.

La rivoluzione dolce spagnola è nata a Puerta del Sol a Madrid e si è diffusa subito in tutta la Spagna, da Valencia a Siviglia a Santiago.
The soft Spanish revolution was born in Puerta del Sol in Madrid and it immediately spread to the whole of Spain, from Valencia to Seville to Santiago.

I ragazzi sono chiamati “Los indignados”, gli indignati, ma il loro nome è “Movimiento 15-M”, dal 15 maggio, il giorno in cui è nata la protesta.
The young people are called “Los indignados”, the indignant ones, but their name is “Movimiento 15-M”, from 15 May, the day when the protest got off the ground.

Non si riconoscono in alcun partito.
They do not see themselves in any party.

Non vi ricordano qualcosa?
Does it not remind you of something?

Si sono sviluppati entrambi su Internet, sono formati in prevalenza dalle giovani generazioni che non vedono prospettive per il loro futuro, si chiamano Movimento tutti e hanno un 5 tutti e due nel nome (“Gimme five!”)
They have both developed on the Internet, they are mainly formed from the young generations that see no prospects for their future, they are called “Movement” and they both have a “5” in their name (“Gimme five!”).

Vogliono una riforma del sistema elettorale, l’abolizione di leggi ingiuste, l’esclusione degli indagati dalle liste elettorali, il divieto di finanziamento ai partiti.
They want a reform of the electoral system, the abolition of unjust laws, the exclusion of people under investigation for crimes from electoral lists, the block on financing to the parties.

Rifiutano il monopolio della politica da parte dei due partiti maggiori, i loro Pdl e Pdmenoelle, che sono il Psoe e il Pp, sono contro l’ologarchia dei partiti e per una democrazia partecipata.
They refuse to accept the monopoly of the two main parties, their PDL and PDminusL, that are the PSOE and the PP, they are against the oligarchy of the parties and for participative democracy.

Domenica ci sono le elezioni amministrative in Spagna, ma giornali e televisioni parlano solo delle nuova rivoluzione spagnola.
On Sunday, there are the local elections in Spain, but newspapers and TV are only talking about the new Spanish revolution .

I politici sembrano diventati di colpo relitti del passato, statue di cera del museo di madame Tussaud.
The politicians seem suddenly to have become relics of the past, wax statues from “Madame Tussaud’s”.

La rivoluzione dal basso ha superato Gibilterra ed è arrivata in Spagna dai Paesi del Maghreb.
The grassroots revolution has jumped over Gibraltar and arrived in Spain from the countries of the Maghreb.

In Islanda e in Italia sta facendo da tempo le prove generali e il contagio potrebbe espandersi in tutta Europa.
In Iceland and in Italy it’s been doing some general rehearsals for some time now, and the contagion could spread to the whole of Europe.

Il 2011 potrebbe diventare come il 1848, quando le vecchie istituzioni vennero travolte e la “questione sociale” divenne parte della politica..
The year 2011 could become like 1848 when the old institutions were swept away and the “social question” became part of politics.

Può essere che in futuro questo periodo sia citato con frasi come “E’ successo un duemilaundici!” come oggi si dice “E’ successo un quarantotto!”.
It could be that in the future this period will be cited with phrases like “A twenty eleven has happened!” like today we say “We’ve had a forty eight!

Nel 1848 la rivoluzione avvenne, quasi istantaneamente, in tutta Europa, da Vienna a Berlino, da Budapest a Parigi.
In 1848 the revolution happened, almost at the same moment, in the whole of Europe, from Vienna to Berlin, from Budapest to Paris.

Gli storici definiscono il ’48 un fenomeno di “sincronizzazione storica”.
The historians defined 1848 as a phenomenon of “historical synchronization”.

Un momento in cui tutto cambia ovunque senza spiegazioni apparenti.
A moment in which everything changes everywhere without apparent explanations.

Un mondo nuovo sta nascendo, l’indignazione è il suo carburante.
A new world is in the process of coming into life, indignation is its fuel.

Un indignado aveva un cartello ben visibile:”E’ il sistema che è contro di noi, non noi contro il Sistema”.
One indignant person had a very visible placard saying “It’s the system that is against us, not us against the system”.

Loro non si arrenderanno mai (ma gli conviene?).
They will never give up (but is it in their interests?).

Noi neppure.
Neither will we.
