The walls

I muri mentali sembrano insormontabili, ma prima o poi crollano.
The mental walls seem insurmountable, but sooner or later, they collapse.

Non ci crederete, ma c’è ancora chi vota Lega e UDC e crede che Andreotti sia stato assolto e non prescritto.
You won’t believe it but there are still those who vote for the Lega or the UDC and who believe that Andreotti was absolved and not let off because of the Statute of Limitations.

Arriva il taxi. Salgo.”Torino Porta Nuova”.
The taxi arrives. I get in and say “Torino Porta Nuova”.

Il tassista ha voglia di parlare.
The taxi driver wants to talk.

I tassisti si dividono in due categorie: quelli del saluto secco e quelli che non ti mollano per tutta la corsa.
There are two types of taxi driver: those that greet you briefly and those that don’t stop talking for the whole journey.

Questo apparteneva alla seconda categoria.
This guy was one of the latter.

Parla, parla…e a un certo punto mi tira in ballo la Tav in Val di Susa.
He talked and talked and at a certain moment he started talking about the TAV in Val di Susa

“Eh, si lei hai ragione su molte cose (senza però citarne neppure una), ma questi anarco insurrezionalisti dove li mette? Fanno bene a tenerli in galera!”
“Ah yes, you’re right on many points (without however naming any of them), but these anarchist insurrectionists where do you place them? They do well to keep them in prison!”

e la Tav è inutile, costa 22 miliardi per una linea in cui il traffico merci è in diminuzione da 15 anni.

E poi c’è già una linea…”
And anyway, there’s already a line there ….”

Ci sono valsusini e valsusini. Quelli della bassa valle la vogliono eccome se la vogliono la Tav.

Lo ha detto Scalfari in televisione.
Scalfari said so on TV.

Adesso mi dirà che anche Scalfari non capisce niente.

“Ecco, se lei sta a Torino e va al ristorante e ordina del pesce come farà in futuro senza la Tav che lo fa arrivare dal Portogallo?”
