Money from nowhere

Il primo libro dello scrittore di fantascienza James Ballard fu “Il vento dal nulla”.
The first book written by J G Ballard the science fiction writer, was “The Wind from Nowhere”.

Un vento sempre più forte soffia ovunque e la sua intensità aumenta giorno dopo giorno.
A wind that gets stronger and stronger, is blowing everywhere with an intensity that’s increasing day by day.

La sua origine è sconosciuta e il vento cessa soltanto quando l’ultimo edificio sulla Terra viene distrutto.
It’s origin is unknown and the wind stops only when the last building on earth has been destroyed.

Questo vento è oggi il denaro, il denaro dal nulla, che sta infettando le economie e gli Stati che ne vengono travolti.
Today this wind is money, money from nowhere, that is infecting the economies and the nations that are brought down by it.

Il denaro è creato dalle banche con il meccanismo della riserva frazionaria.
Money is created by the banks with the mechanism of the fractional reserve system.

When a bank makes a loan it has a reserve backing it, but not completely.

Supponiamo che la banca abbia nei suoi depositi 1.000 euro e che la riserva obbligatoria per un prestito corrisponda al 10% della somma prestata.
Let’s say that the bank has deposits of 1,000 euro and that the obligatory reserves for a loan corresponds to 10% of the amount loaned.

La banca potrà quindi prestare fino a 10.000 euro nonostante disponga solo di 1.000 euro.
Thus the bank could lend up to 10,000 euro even though it only has 1,000 euro.

Ha creato 9.000 euro dal nulla.
It has created 9.000 euro from nowhere.

Se tutti i clienti di un qualunque istituto bancario decidessero di prelevare le somme depositate scoprirebbero che non esistono e la banca fallirebbe.
If all the customers of any particular banking institution were all to decide to withdraw their deposits on the same day, they would discover that the bank didn’t have enough money and the bank would go bust.

Il denaro in circolazione non ha più niente a che fare con la realtà.
The money in circulation no longer has any connection with reality.

Si stima che il debito totale del mondo ammonti a 200 trilioni di dollari, mentre la produzione mondiale annua, il PIL, è di 70 trilioni, circa un terzo.
It’s estimated that the total debt in the world amounts to 200 trillion dollars, while world annual production, GDP, is 70 trillion, that is a third.

Una bolla enorme che prima o poi è destinata ad esplodere.
An enormous bubble that sooner or later is destined to burst.

Per uscirne si potrebbe sostituire il denaro creato dalle banche con denaro stampato dagli Stati e con l’obbligo di prestiti interamente coperti da capitali.
To get out of this mess, it could be possible to substitute money created by the banks with money printed by the individual nations and with the obligation that loans are made only if they are completely covered by capital.

Per ora siamo seduti sopra a un uragano i cui effetti sono di una dimensione che sfugge alla mente umana.
Right now, we are sitting on top of a hurricane whose effects are of such enormous proportions that the human mind cannot comprehend them.

L’economista e premio Nobel Maurice Allais disse “L’attuale creazione di denaro dal nulla, operata dal sistema bancario, è identica alla creazione di moneta da parte dei falsari. La sola differenza è che sono diversi coloro che ne traggono profitto”.
Maurice Allais, an economist, and winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize, said “the ex nihilo creation of money by the banking system is identical to the creation of money by “counterfeiters,” the only difference being that those who profit are different“.

Il denaro dal nulla potrebbe terminare con la distruzione delle Nazioni.
Money from nowhere could end up with the destruction of nations.

Come il vento, e poi cessare di colpo.
Like the wind, and then it suddenly stops.
