Due lezioni dall’Ucraina
Two lessons from Ukraine

Mentre in Veneto si stanno facendo le prove generali per la secessione sotto gli occhi stupiti di giornalisti post datati e di storici da strapazzo, dall’Ucraina arrivano due lezioni:
While people in the area of Veneto are having a dress rehearsal for secession under the amazed gaze of postdated journalists and lousy historians, we are getting two lessons from Ukraine:

il colpo di Stato “democratico” e l’autodeterminazione dei popoli “antidemocratica”.
the “democratic“ coup d’état and the people’s “antidemocratic” self-determination.

La parola democrazia è diventata la foglia di fico degli analisti cicero pro domo sua.
The word “democracy” has become the fig leaf for “cicero pro domo sua“ analysts {that look at things in a way that will benefit themselves}.

La usano come in cucina si usa il prezzemolo, un po’ qua, un po’ là, male non fa.
They use the word, a bit like cooks use parsley: a bit here and a bit there, no harm done.

>>> Il colpo di Stato deve presupporre alcuni ingredienti.
The coup d’état depends on certain ingredients.

Primo: ci deve essere uno Stato con un governo legittimo eletto in regolari elezioni, in Ucraina nel 2010 venne eletto con il 51% dei voti Viktor Yanukovych.
First: there has to be a State with a legitimate government elected in regular elections. In Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych was elected with the 51% of the votes in 2010.

Secondo: il Paese deve essere oggetto di appetiti internazionali di natura geopolitica o per le materie prime.
Second: the country has to be the object of international appetites interested in geopolitics and raw materials.

Terzo: ci deve essere una piazza larga a piacere e di una certa notorietà come piazza Maidan a Kiev per una rivolta che deponga il tiranno.
Third: somewhere there has to be a square that’s massive and pretty famous like Maidan in Kiev, for a rivolt that gets rid of the tyrant.

Una spruzzata di morti da ambedue le parti, un’indignazione internazionale con la copertura dei principali network e un uso massiccio dei social e la rivoluzione è servita.
A sprinkling of deaths on both sides, international indignation that’s covered by the main networks, and extensive use of social media and the revolution is served up.

Le elezioni non servono più.
Elections are no longer needed.

Che non sia possibile conoscere chi ci fosse realmente in piazza, la presenza di agenti provocatori e chi abbia sparato è un dato di fatto che però non interessa a nessuno.
The fact that it’s not possible to find out who really was in the square, whether there were “agents provocateurs” present and who actually fired shots, is well known, but nobody is interested.

La divisione tra buoni e cattivi per l’opinione pubblica è definitivo e questo è ciò che conta.
For the general public, the division between good people and bad people is definitive and this is what counts.

In Egitto il presidente Morsi, eletto anch’egli in regolari elezioni, è stato deposto da moti di piazza e ora è imprigionato e sotto processo, in aula in una gabbia insonorizzata.
In Egypt, President Morsi, another one elected in regular elections, was deposed by demonstrations in the streets and is now on trial, in a soundproof cage in the courtroom.

I militari ne hanno preso il posto.
The military have taken his place.

Dall’Europa e da Washington non un moto di sdegno e neppure un missile Tomahawk come sul dittatore Gheddafi.
There’s been no hint of indignation from either Europe or Washington and not even a Tomahawk missile like dictator Gaddafi got.

La seconda lezione che arriva dall’Ucraina è il referendum tenuto in Crimea in cui hanno votato i tre quarti degli aventi diritto e il 96,6% ha votato per l’annessione alla Russia.
The second lesson that arrived from Ukraine is the referendum held in Crimea in which three quarters of those entitled to vote actually voted and of these, 96.6% voted for uniting with Russia.

Il referendum è stato bollato dalle democrazie occidentali come illegittimo.
The referendum was labelled as illegitimate by western democracies.

Ora, se passasse il principio che attraverso un referendum un popolo possa decidere di non far parte di una Nazione ed eventualmente ricongiungersi a un’altra, per l’Europa costruita sul concetto ottocentesco di Nazione dopo il crollo degli Imperi, sarebbe una catastrofe.
Now, if there were to be the acceptance of the principle that by voting in a referendum, a people can decide to not form part of one nation and possibly add themselves on to another nation, for Europe, that has been built on the nineteenth-century concept of nation after the collapse of the empires, it would be a catastrophe.

C’è la fila per l’autodeterminazione, dalla Catalogna, alla Scozia, ai Paesi Baschi, alla Bretagna, al Veneto, a Trieste.
There’s a queue of those lining up for self determination, going from Catalonia, to Scotland, to the Basque countries, to Brittany, to the Region of Veneto, to Trieste.

In Italia l’idea di decentralizzare i poteri dello Stato centrale prima del prossimo naufragio economico e istituzionale e di mantenere allo Stato poteri fondamentali è una soluzione per bloccare le spinte centrifughe in atto.
In Italy, the idea of decentralising power from the central State before the next economic and institutional shipwreck and of keeping basic powers with the State, is one solution for blocking the current centrifugal forces.

Non è secessione, come non lo è negli Stati federali come gli Stati Uniti e la Svizzera.
It’s not secession, just as it’s not with federal states, like in the USA or in Switzerland.

La Padania non è mai esistita, ma la Repubblica di Venezia è durata mille anni.
The concept of “Padania” or the Po Valley, has never existed in reality, but the Republic of Venice was in existence for thousands of years.
