Wallonia and Brussels call for international research talent
La Vallonia e Bruxelles invitano i talenti internazionali della ricerca

The EU-funded BEWARE FELLOWSHIPS programme is bringing researchers from across the globe to Wallonia and Brussels to stimulate innovation, encourage technology transfer and boost researchers’ careers.
Il programma BEWARE FELLOWSHIPS, finanziato dall’UE, sta portando ricercatori di tutto il mondo in Vallonia e Bruxelles per stimolare l’innovazione, incoraggiare il trasferimento di tecnologia e migliorare la carriera dei ricercatori.

A total of 50 new researchers from outside of Belgium will be joining Walloon research units over the next few months as part of the BEWARE FELLOWSHIPS programme, an initiative co-funded by the FP7 EU Marie Curie Actions within the MARSHALL FELLOWSHIPS and the TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FELLOWSHIPS projects.
Un totale di 50 nuovi ricercatori internazionali si uniranno alle unità di ricerca della Vallonia nei prossimi mesi nell’ambito del programma di borse di BEWARE FELLOWSHIPS, un’iniziativa co-finanziata dalle Azioni Marie Curie del 7° PQ dell’UE nell’ambito dei progetti MARSHALL FELLOWSHIPS e TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FELLOWSHIPS.

Over the next four years, the aim is for the number of participants to grow to almost 100 as the project continues to attract highly qualified researchers to Wallonia and Brussels.
Nei prossimi quattro anni, l’obiettivo sarà far crescere il numero di partecipanti fino a quasi 100 poiché il progetto continua ad attrarre ricercatori altamente qualificati in Vallonia e a Bruxelles.

Coordinated by the Walloon Public Service (SPW / DGO6) in Belgium, BEWARE FELLOWSHIPS engages researchers in 18 to 36 month contracts in Wallonia or Brussels with the aim of benefiting the individual, the local economy and the research community.
Coordinato dal Servizio pubblico vallone (SPW / DGO6) in Belgio, BEWARE FELLOWSHIPS assume ricercatori con contratti della durata compresa tra 18 e 36 mesi in Vallonia o Bruxelles a vantaggio del singolo ricercatore, dell’economia locale e della comunità di ricerca.

>>> The project team also aims for the fellowships to enhance the visibility of Wallonia at the international level and establish a long term international collaboration.
L’obiettivo del team del progetto è che le borse di ricerca migliorino la visibilità della Vallonia a livello internazionale e stabiliscano una collaborazione internazionale a lungo termine.

So far, the team has launched three calls with three more foreseen in 2015 and two in 2016, depending on the remaining budget.
Finora, il team ha lanciato tre inviti, altri tre sono previsti per il 2015 e due per il 2016, a seconda del budget rimanente.

Divided into two categories – industry and academia – the first calls have already been processed and they involve five universities, seven research centres and three SMEs.
Divisi in due categorie – industria e accademia – i primi inviti sono già stati elaborati e coinvolgono cinque università, sette centri di ricerca e tre PMI.

Eligible researchers so far include 13 women and 37 men with an average age of 33.
I ricercatori idonei fino a questo momento comprendono 13 donne e 37 uomini con un’età media di 33 anni.

Participants come from a wide range of countries across the globe – including the US, China, Australia, Germany, France, Algeria, India, Chile and beyond.
I partecipanti provengono da molti paesi diversi di tutto il mondo – come Stati Uniti, Cina, Australia, Germania, Francia, Algeria, India, Cile e altri.

The aim of the ‘industry’ category (co-funded by MARSHALL FELLOWSHIPS) is for an SME or accredited research centre to benefit from the expertise of highly qualified researchers to encourage the innovation process within the Walloon host.
L’obiettivo della categoria “industriale” (co-finanziata da MARSHALL FELLOWSHIPS) è che una PMI o un centro di ricerca accreditato tragga vantaggio dalle competenze di ricercatori altamente qualificati per incoraggiare il processo di innovazione nell’istituto ospitante in Vallonia.

Meanwhile the ‘academia’ category (co-funded by TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FELLOWSHIPS) focuses on technology transfer.
La categoria “accademica” invece (co-finanziata da TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FELLOWSHIPS) si occupa del trasferimento di tecnologia.

According to project coordinator Pierre Demoitié of the SPW / DGO6, the calls are open to all research topics (bottom up approach) and the participant should demonstrate an innovative aspect to their research or their ability to enable technology transfer.
Secondo il coordinatore del progetto Pierre Demoitié del SPW / DGO6, gli inviti sono aperti a tutti gli argomenti di ricerca (con un approccio dal basso verso l’alto) e il partecipante dovrebbe dimostrare l’aspetto innovativo della propria ricerca o la capacità di promuovere un trasferimento di tecnologia.

At the time of submission, applicants should hold a PhD or have four years of research experience and not have spent more than 12 months in Belgium over the last three years.
Al momento della presentazione delle candidature, i richiedenti dovrebbero avere conseguito un dottorato di ricerca o avere quattro anni di esperienza di ricerca e non aver vissuto più di 12 mesi in Belgio nei tre anni precedenti.

One of the primary aims of the project is to raise the profile of research in Wallonia.
Uno degli obiettivi principali del progetto è alzare il profilo della ricerca in Vallonia.

Currently the region has numerous multi-nationals active in the agri-food industry, life sciences, transport and logistics, aeronautics and space, engineering and new materials, biomedicine, construction and ICT and employs over 5 500 researchers.
Attualmente la regione ha numerose multi-nazionali attive nei settori agro-alimentare, scienze della vita, trasporti e logistica, aeronautica e spazio, ingegneria e nuovi materiali, biomedicina, edilizia e TIC e impiega oltre 5 500 ricercatori.

Demoitié notes that the hope is that the researchers who participate in the programme will become ‘ambassadors of Wallonia’ in the frame of their collaboration with the region.
Demoitié osserva che la speranza è che i ricercatori che partecipano al programma diventino “ambasciatori della Vallonia” nel quadro della loro collaborazione con la regione.

The cut-off date for the next call in both categories is 30 September 2015.
La scadenza ultima per il prossimo invito in entrambe le categorie è il 30 settembre 2015.
