Cause and effect
Il vecchio esempio dello stolto che guarda il dito e non la luna che indica è una fotografia dell’Italia.
The old example of the foolish man that looks at his finger and not at the moon he’s pointing to – is a snapshot of Italy.
Vengono presi in esame solo gli effetti senza mai esaminare le cause, né tanto meno denunciarle per non spiacere a nessuno.
The only things examined are the effects and not the causes, and no one is thinking of denouncing the causes so as not to displease anyone.
Gli effetti vengono poi chiamati “emergenze” e il gioco è fatto.
The effects are then called “emergencies“ and you’re done.
Appaiono così come meteoriti cadute improvvisamente dal cielo, eventi imponderabili, quando invece si potevano tranquillamente evitare.
Thus unpredictable events appear like meteorites suddenly falling from the sky when they could in fact have easily been avoided.
L’ “emergenza” profughi sembra sbucata fuori dal nulla, ma al di là della questione umanitaria, che va affrontata, nessuno ne denuncia apertamente le cause che risalgono alla destabilizzazione del Nord Africa e del Medio Oriente da parte delle potenze occidentali.
The refugee “emergency“ seems to have popped up out of nowhere, but apart from the humanitarian issue that has to be tackled, no one is openly denouncing the causes that go back to the destabilisation of North Africa and the Middle East by western powers.
