925 milioni di persone soffrono la fame nel mondo mentre il prezzo del cibo sta aumentando.
925 million people in the world are suffering from hunger while the price of food is going up.

Dallo scorso luglio è cresciuto del 18%.
Since July, that figure has increased by 18%.

La malnutrizione è la principale causa di morte, molto prima di malattie come l’AIDS, malaria o TBC.
Malnutrition is the main cause of death, and it comes so far above illnesses like AIDS, malaria or TB.

La maggior parte delle nazioni affamate si trova in Africa.
Most of the starving nations are in Africa.

Con queste premesse il primo pensiero degli Stati più ricchi dovrebbe essere quello di aiutare l’Africa e non di sfruttarla.
Having said this to start off with, the first thoughts of the richer States should be that of helping Africa and not exploiting it.

13 milioni di etiopi non hanno cibo sufficiente, il governo etiope ha però offerto tre milioni di ettari di terra coltivabile a nazioni dove la fame è sconosciuta.
13 million Ethiopians don’t have enough food. However, the Ethiopian government has offered three million hectares of cultivatable land to nations where starvation is unknown.

La guerra del cibo è al suo inizio e in confronto, quella del petrolio sembrerà una passeggiata.
The food war is at the beginning and in comparison, the oil war will seem like a walk in the park.

Sullo scacchiere mondiale si stanno muovendo, per impossessarsi delle aree coltivabili, le nazioni più potenti, come in un Grande Risiko.
On the world chess board, things are happening, to get possession of cultivatable land, it’s the most powerful nations, like in a great big game of “Risk”.

Un neocolonialismo della fame che non può durare nel tempo.
This is neo-colonialism of starvation that cannot go on for a long time.

Non si può pensare che l’Africa o in Sudamerica, dove la Cina è presente con l’acquisto di immensi territori agricoli, non trattengano le loro risorse alimentari in caso di crisi mondiale.
It’s not possible to think of Africa or South America where China is present with the acquisition of immense agricultural territories, not taking action to hold back their food resources in the event of a world crisis.

Non si possono bombardare i terreni coltivati.
It’s not possible to bomb cultivatable land.

In futuro la vera ricchezza sarà un campo di grano, un orto, una serra.
In the future true wealth will be a field of wheat, a kitchen garden or a greenhouse.

Possibilmente vicino a casa.
If possible near home.
