L’italiano è come un criceto nella ruota.
The Italian is like a hamster in the wheel.

Corre, corre.
He runs, runs, runs.

Crede di andare avanti, di arrivare da qualche parte.
He believes he’s going forward, so as to arrive somewhere.

In realtà, se stesse fermo per lui non cambierebbe nulla.
In reality, if he stayed still, nothing would change.

Rimarrebbe esattamente dove si trova, ma almeno senza fare fatica e produrre energia tutta la vita per il sistema, che alla ruota è collegato.
He would remain exactly where he is, but at least without getting tired out and producing energy for his whole life for the system that is connected to the wheel.

Si è ormai assuefatto alla ruota, al suo zampettare per pagare le tasse fino a estate inoltrata prima di poter spendere anche un solo euro del suo lavoro e a mantenere una macchina dei parassiti, enorme, di politici, para politici, concessionari e strutture pubbliche di ogni tipo.
If by now he is used to the wheel, to his scampering to pay taxes right up to beyond the summer before he can spend even a single euro from his work and maintaining a an enormous machine of parasites, of politicians or para-politicians, of concessionaires and every type of public structure.

Ci siamo abituati al degrado, un giorno alla volta.
We are used to descending into squalor one day at a time.

Ci sembra normale lottare, difenderci dallo Stato per il riconoscimento di un qualunque diritto o sostituirci ad esso per la sanità, la scuola, per proteggere l’ambiente.
It seems normal to us to fight to defend ourselves from the State for the recognition of any right or to put ourselves in its place for health, education, or to protect the environment.

Molti non hanno conosciuto altra realtà al di fuori di quella del criceto in gabbia.
Many have not known any other reality apart from that of the hamster in the cage.

Non uscirebbero dalla ruota neppure con lo sportello della gabbia aperto.
They wouldn’t leave the wheel even if the cage door were open.

Credono che il mondo sia soltanto un’immenso negozio di ruote di criceti.
They think that the world is just an immense business of hamster’s wheels.

Una vale l’altra, perché cambiare?
One is like the other, why change?

Fuori dalla porta di casa c’è la giungla.
Outside the front door is the jungle.

Nella casella della posta, dove un tempo c’erano le cartoline, ci sono multe, bollette (ma quante sono?), avvisi di Equitalia, raccomandate dell’Agenzia delle Entrate.
In the letter box, where once upon a time there were postcards, there are fines, utility bills (but how many are there?), notifications from Equitalia, registered letters from the Tax Collection Agency.

Quando nasci prima del nome ti attribuiscono il codice fiscale.
When you are born, before a name, they assign you a fiscal code.

“No Taxation without Representation”, la regola americana che nessuna tassa va pagata dai cittadini senza una loro rappresentanza reale nelle Istituzioni è diventata “Taxation without Representation”.
“No Taxation without Representation”, the American rule that no tax is paid without real representation in the institutions has become “Taxation without Representation”.

Paghi, subisci e metti una croce sul simbolo dei tuoi padroni.
You pay, you put up with it, and you put a cross on the symbol of your masters.

Ci hanno rubato il senso di appartenenza a una comunità, allo Stato.
They have stolen from us the sense of belonging to a community, to the State.

Siamo cittadini del Nulla.
We are citizens of the Nothing.

Questa è forse la cosa più grave.
This is perhaps the most serious thing.

Non ci riconosciamo più neppure tra di noi.
We don’t even recognise ourselves even among ourselves.

Da questo dobbiamo ripartire, dalla creazione del senso del bene comune, della creazione di spazi di felicità, di costruzione del futuro e dell’orgoglio di appartenere a un progetto di Nazione.
From this point we have to start off again, from the creation of a sense of the common good, of the creation of spaces of happiness, the construction of the future and the pride in belonging to a Nation project.

The MoVimento 5 Stelle {5 Star MoVement} is this project.

Si presenterà alle prossime amministrative in 75 comuni.
It will present itself at the next local elections in 75 towns.

Solo candidati incensurati, senza tessere di partito, senza finanziamenti pubblici.
Only candidates without criminal records, without party tickets, without public financing.

Loro non si arrenderanno mai (ma gli conviene?).
They will never give up (but is it in their interests?).

Noi neppure.
Neither will we.
