Homemade Greek yogurt

I politici greci sono fortunati.
Greek politicians are lucky.

Quando si fanno vedere in giro (il meno possibile…) gli tirano lo yogurt.
When they are seen out and about, (as little as possible) people throw yogurt at them.

E quello greco è tra i migliori del mondo…
It’s the Greek type, among the best in the world …

I nostri invece li arrestano.
Whereas our politicians get arrested.

Rimpiangono con nostalgia le monetine di Craxi.
They weep with nostalgia for the coins thrown at Craxi.

Se gli tirassero pezzi da 10 centesimi sarebbero contenti.
If people were to throw 10 cent coins at them they would be happy.

Si muovono con la scorta, nelle auto blu con i vetri oscurati, come squali nel traffico, per non farsi riconoscere dalla gente.
They move around with bodyguards, in dark blue cars with blackened windows, like sharks in the traffic, so as not to be recognised by people.

La temono.
They are afraid of them.

Questi soggetti inquisiti, condannati in primo secondo, terzo grado, che nessuno ha eletto, si giudicano e si assolvono da soli.
These individuals who are under investigation, convicted at the first, second or third level who no one has elected, judge themselves and absolve themselves all by themselves.

Decidono, per motivi misteriosi al popolo, chi può essere arrestato, come è avvenuto per Papa del pdl, e chi invece può farla franca, come Tedesco del pdmenoelle.
They decide, for reasons that are mysterious to the people, who can be arrested, as happened for Papa of the PDL, and who can get away scot free like Tedesco of the PDminusL.

Basta un cerino acceso, un fiammifero dimenticato e si può scatenare la rivolta sociale.

They know that.

Il Paese è indebitato a partire dallo Stato fino al più piccolo comune.
The country is in debt starting from the State right down to the tiniest town.

In un Paese in cui Alfonso Papa si dichiara da Poggioreale “prigioniero politico” come un brigatista d’altri tempi e dove il pdl contesta il voto per Papa con la motivazione “Basta elettronica, si torni alle palline”, sono le palline dei cittadini che ruotano vorticosamente.
In a country where Alfonso Papa from Poggioreale declares himself to be “a political prisoner” like a member of the Red Brigades of times gone by and where the PDL contest the vote for Papa with the reason: “Enough electronics, go back to the balls”, it’s the balls of the citizens that are going round and round vortically.

Chi deve andare in galera va deciso dai giudici, non dai sodali degli imputati e chi è accusato di gravi reati deve dimettersi.
It is the judges who decide who has to go to prison, not the chums of the defendants and those who are accused of serious crimes have to resign.

Nel mentre, Bersani dello Scudo Fiscale, del no alle province, della gestione dell’acqua privatizzata, della Tav e con imputati eccellenti nel suo partito chiede nuove elezioni.
Meanwhile, Bersani of the Fiscal Shield, of the “no” to the provinces, of the management of private water, of the TAV, and with excellent defendants in his party, is asking for new elections.

Sono d’accordo.
I agree.

Prima però deve sciogliere il pdmenoelle.
Before that however, the PDminusL must be dissolved.

Loro non si arrenderanno mai (ma gli conviene?).
They will never give up (but is it in their interests?).

Noi neppure.
Neither will we.
