The unwitting one
Il sottosegretario alla presidenza del Consiglio per l’editoria, il professore Carlo Malinconico, è stato ospite in un albergo extra lusso.
The undersecretary for publishing in the office of the President of the Council, professor Carlo Malinconico was a guest in a super deluxe hotel.
Il conto di parecchie migliaia di euro lo ha pagato, all’insaputa dell’interessato, Francesco Piscicelli, l’imprenditore coinvolto nell’inchiesta sugli appalti post terremoto in Abruzzo e che rideva dopo la catastrofe.
Unknown to the person involved, the bill was paid by Francesco Piscicelli, the entrepreneur involved in the investigation into the contracts assigned after the earthquake in Abruzzo and who laughed after the catastrophe.
Malinconico, in precedenza presidente della Fieg e segretario generale della presidenza del Consiglio con Romano Prodi, ha detto di non aver “mai fatto favori ai personaggi coinvolti” e che è venuto a conoscenza “solo ora che Piscicelli avrebbe pagato di propria iniziativa e per ragioni a me del tutto ignote alcuni dei miei soggiorni presso la struttura alberghiera”.
Malinconico, formerly the president of the FIEG and general secretary of the office of the President of the Council with Romano Prodi, said that he has “never given favours to the people involved” and that he got to know “only now that Piscicelli had paid of his own initiative and for reasons unknown to me, some of my stays in the hotel complex”.

L’albergatore Roberto Sciò e il costruttore Piscicelli, senza avvertire Malinconico, avevano organizzato la sua permanenza fidando che si scordasse di pagare, fatto poi regolarmente avvenuto.
The hotelier Roberto Sciò and the construction man Piscicelli, without telling Malinconico, had organised for him to stay, trusting that he would forget to pay. And that actually happened.
In una telefonata Sciò dice a Piscicelli “Il professore te lo sei proprio adottato…”.
In a telephone conversation, Sciò said to Piscicelli “You’ve really adopted the professor …”
Malinconico si è dimesso, tra gli applausi per la sua “sensibilità istituzionale” e dichiarazioni sull’integrità della persona.
Malinconico resigned, to the applause for his “institutional sensibility” and declarations about the integrity of the person.
