Il water della democrazia
Democracy’s WC

Ho una sensazione di freddo alla schiena.
I get cold shivers down my back.

Guardo Rigor Montis, la Frignero, Passera e le facce di cera dei vari ministri e vedo dei contabili, degli esattori, dei curatori fallimentari, degli ESTRANEI.
I look at Rigor Montis, Frignero, Passera and the wax faces of the various ministers and I see bookkeepers, tax collectors, bankruptcy adjusters, STRANGERS.

Who invited them?

Chi li ha votati?
Who voted for them?

Mi ricordano la pubblicità degli anni ’80 della Johnson, la signora Luisa, la domestica seria e precisa, dal fare sicuro, che si presentava alla tua porta, dal motto “Comincia presto, finisce presto e di solito non pulisce il water” perché usava la schiuma attiva di Magic Water.
They remind me of the 1980s advertising campaign by Johnson with the dark mannered, serious and precise cleaner, signora Luisa who turns up at your door with the motto “Comincia presto, finisce presto e di solito non pulisce il water” {starts early, finishes early and usually doesn’t clean the WC} because she used the active foam of “Magic Water”.

The Magic Monti government is doing the cleaning in our home without bothering about who is living in this house.

Le categorie sociali gli sono indifferenti.
It’s not bothered about the social classes.

Pensionati, camionisti, tassisti, cassintegrati, piccoli imprenditori è come se non ci fossero, come se non avessero mai abitato in Italia.
Pensioners, truck drivers, taxi drivers, laid off workers, small-time entrepreneurs – it’s as though they didn’t exist, as though they had never lived in Italy.

I ministri non fanno parte del tessuto sociale, non sono stati eletti, non devono rispondere a nessuno, non discutono con le controparti, eseguono il loro mandato.
The ministers are not part of the social fabric. They have not been elected. They don’t have to answer to anyone. They don’t have discussions with their counterparts. They carry out their mandate.

Sembrano alieni in visita ispettiva, alteri.
They seem like disdainful aliens on an inspection visit.

Indifferenti a tutto tranne che alle banche.
Indifferent to everything except the banks.

Ospiti che sono diventati padroni, che dopo tre mesi cominciano a puzzare tremendamente e il water non lo puliscono mai.
Guests who have become masters, who after three months start to smell tremendously and who never clean the WC.

Mi inquieta la perdita totale, definitiva della democrazia e la accettazione di questa perdita da parte degli italiani come se fosse ineluttabile, ovvia, scontata.
What worries me is the total definitive loss of democracy and the acceptance of this loss by the Italians as though it were inevitable, obvious, taken for granted.

Come se la democrazia fosse un optional.
As though democracy were an optional.

Negli anni ’70 andava di moda l’esproprio proletario.
In the 1970s “esproprio proletario” {proletariat expropriation} was fashionable.

Si entrava in un supermercato e si faceva la spesa senza pagare.
One went into a supermarket and did the shopping without paying.

Si usava così.
That was how it was.

Oggi assistiamo all’esproprio bancario, una sottrazione dei diritti dei cittadini, dall’art.18 alla cassa integrazione, fatta alla luce del sole con rigidità burocratica da persone grigie, in giacca e cravatta, per salvare le banche e l’euro.
Today we are witnessing banking expropriation: a removal of the rights of the citizens, from article 18 to the fund for laid off workers, carried out in broad day light with bureaucratic rigidity by grey persons, in jacket and tie, to save the banks and the euro.

Li guardo e non vedo umanità, ma lo sguardo fisso e indecifrabile degli squali.
I look at them and I don’t see humanity but the fixed and undecipherable look of sharks.

Il Paese va a fuoco, ma per loro è solo una pratica da chiudere al più presto.
The country is going up in flames, but for them it is just a task to be finished off as soon as possible.
