“TTIP: Il trattato sconosciuto, questo è il titolo dell’incontro che si terrà presso la sala ISMA (Santa Maria in Aquiro) in Piazza Capranica a Roma martedì 2 dicembre alle 10.
“TTIP: the unknown treaty, this is the title of the event taking place in ISMA (Santa Maria in Aquiro) in Rome’s Piazza Capranica at 10 am on Tuesday 2 December.

Promosso dalla senatrice Elena Fattori (vice presidente Commissione Politiche UE – M5S) vedrà la partecipazione del deputato Filippo Gallinella (Commissione Politiche agricole – M5S) l’europarlamentare Tiziana Beghin (M5S) la dott.sa Monica Di Sisto (vice presidente di Fairwatch/Stop TTIP) Stefano Lenzi (WWF) Fulvio Grimaldi (giornalista).
It’s organised by senator Elena Fattori (vice president of the parliamentary committee on EU policies – M5S). Participants include deputy Filippo Gallinella (parliamentary committee on agriculture – M5S), MEP Tiziana Beghin (M5S), Monica Di Sisto (vice president of Fairwatch/Stop TTIP), Stefano Lenzi (WWF), and Fulvio Grimaldi (jourrnalist).

The discussion will examine the TTIP agreement that is currently being negotiated between the European Union and the United States.

Il Trattato Transatlantico per il Commercio e gli Investimenti (in inglese: Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) è un accordo commerciale di libero scambio.
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a proposed free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States of America (USA).

Formalmente si tratta di approvare una deregolamentazione che abolirà i dazi doganali, uniformando i regolamenti dei due continenti e diminuendo il controllo dei singoli Stati.
Formally it’s a matter of approving the deregulation that will abolish customs duties and will align regulations in the two continents and reduce the control of individual States.

Sarà così possibile la libera circolazione di merci, investimenti, servizi ed appalti.
Thus it will pave the way for the free circulation of goods, investment services and contracts.

Sono molti a ritenere invece che il TTIP diventerà l’ennesimo ostacolo alla sovranità politica, commerciale ed alimentare del nostro Paese.
However, many people believe that TTIP will become the umpteenth obstacle to the political, commercial and food sovereignty of our country.

L’evento organizzato al Senato ha come obiettivo anche quello di valutare e pianificare quali siano le migliori azioni politiche per poter incidere in un processo che sembra inesorabilmente diretto verso una conclusione in tempi brevi, nell’impotenza totale dei cittadini.
The event organised in the Senate is also aiming to come up with the best political actions to be able to make a difference in a process that seems to be marching on towards a conclusion in a very short time and the citizens seem powerless to stop it.

Nel dettaglio, il TTIP è un trattato sconosciuto.
In its detail, TTIP is an unknown treaty.

Ad oggi sono secretati tutti i documenti scaturiti dalle riunioni già avvenute a partire dal 2013 e che ne vedranno un’altra nel febbraio 2015.
Up until now, all the documents that are fruit of the meetings that have taken place since 2013, have been kept secret. Another meeting is due in February 2015.

Secondo le molte voci critiche che si sono levate da associazioni, studiosi e movimenti che in diversi paesi d’Europa si sono schierati contro questo trattato, il TTIP porterebbe un abbassamento di tutti gli standard produttivi in diversi settori, compreso quello agricolo.
According to the numerous individuals and organisations (associations, academics, campaign groups) that have expressed criticism of this treaty, TTIP could bring about a lowering of all the production standards in different sectors, including the agricultural sector.

Il rischio di debilitare il nostro Made in Italy in favore di una massificazione produttiva, tipica degli Stati Uniti è dietro l’angolo.
The risk of weakening our “Made in Italy” brand and strengthening the mass production that is typical of the United States, is just round the corner.

Le aziende americane entrerebbero in diretta concorrenza nella gestione dei beni comuni, come l’acqua.
American companies would be in direct competition for the management of public assets like water.

Potrebbero proliferare le colture Ogm spinte dalle multinazionali.
There could be the proliferation of GMO products promoted by the multinationals.

Il principio di precauzione sulla salute dei cittadini sarebbe in serio pericolo, il pericolo di un abbassamento del livello qualitativo delle produzioni una certezza.
The precautionary principle and the protection of the health of the citizens would be in serious danger.The danger of a drop in the quality of production is a certainty.

Inoltre, a favorire ancora di più le multinazionali di ogni settore, interviene la clausola ISDS.
Furthermore, working even more in favour of the multinationals in every sector, is the ISDS clause.

Ovvero la possibilità da parte delle aziende di fare causa agli Stati che mettano in pericolo il loro investimento.
This makes it possible for companies to take legal action against any State that endangers its investments.

Esattamente come accadde in alcuni Paesi che furono chiamati a giudizio dall’industria del tabacco per avere introdotto la scritta “il fumo nuoce alla salute” sui pacchetti di sigarette.
This is exactly what happened in countries that were taken on by the tobacco industry for imposing the written warning “smoking is a danger to your health” on cigarette packets.

Francia e Germania già hanno detto “no” all’ISDS.
France and Germany have already said “no” to ISDS.

Elemento ancor più sconcertante è che il procedimento giudiziario non avverrebbe in un tribunale ordinario dello Stato cui viene fatta causa, ma in una sede terza.
What’s even more disconcerting is that the judicial procedure would not take place in an ordinary court in that State but elsewhere.

Un tribunale di “arbitrato” dove presumibilmente i giudici e gli avvocati difensori saranno sempre gli stessi, creando una spaventosa girandola di conflitti di interessi.
An “Arbitration Tribunal” in which it can be presumed that the judges and the defending lawyers will always be the same people and this will thus be creating a frightening conflict of interest merry-go-round.

In tutto questo gioco, che nulla ha di divertente, gli Stati membro sono tenuti fuori.
The member States will be kept out of this whole game that is certainly no fun.

La Commissione Europea non ha l’obbligo di confronto o ratifica con gli Stati per questo tipo di accordi, così come è previsto invece dal Trattato di funzionamento dell’UE.
Unlike Treaties on the functioning of the EU, for a Treaty like TTIP, the European Commission is not obliged to discuss and get the ratification of the member States.

Chiamiamo a raccolta tutta la politica, a prescindere dallo schieramento, Governo compreso, che sembra essere poco partecipante alla formazione del TTIP, per fare luce su quanto viene nascosto alla popolazione di tutta Europa.
