#OlandesiPagateIDanni

A handful of Dutch hooligans have devastated Rome.

Who’s going to pay for the damage to the Barcaccia fountain?

Chi paga l’intervento straordinario delle forze dell’ordine?
Who’s going to pay for the out-of-the-ordinary intervention of the security forces?

Who’s going to pay for the physical and moral damage suffered by the citizens of Rome and by the police officers?

Alfano? – the one who didn’t know how to handle the situation?

>>> Il sindaco Marino?
Marino, the mayor?

The respective sporting clubs of Rome and of Feyenoord?

#OlandesiPagateIDanni!

Chi è responsabile della sicurezza a Roma?
Who is responsible for Rome’s security?

If instead of a handful of drunken yokels, it had been ISIS that arrived – how long would Rome have lasted?

Di seguito l’intervento di Igor Gelarda, Dirigente nazionale Sindacato di Polizia Consap
What follows is a statement from Igor Gela, the national leader of the Police Union called CONSAP

“This time it was the hooligans from Feyenoord that have turned the Eternal Cty into a nightmare for a day and a half.

Hitting, stone-throwing, and paper bombs against our police officers and Carabinieri, who were, once more, called in to defend the citizens, and Italy’s outdoor spaces, in return for a crust of bread.

And they also have to defend themselves and it’s getting more and more difficult!

Decine di poliziotti feriti e bombe carta lanciate, una fontana vecchia di più di 500 anni, simbolo di un passato glorioso e di un presente di decadenza, scheggiata;
Dozens of police officers injured, a 500 year-old fountain, the symbol of a glorious past and a decaying present day, with fragments smashed:

15 autobus danneggiati e mezzi della polizia rotti.
with damage to 15 buses – as well as police vehicles.

Scenes of war – worthy of battles that you read about in the history books!

And this is the price to pay for a football match.

Prezzo in tutti i sensi:
It’s a cost in all ways.

The overtime shifts worked by the security forces – in some cases shifts that humans shouldn’t have to put up with – of more than 10 hours – and we had to pay them out of our own pockets – and we’ve had to gift more money to the football clubs that are certainly not without a bit of money.

Anche i danni fatti chi li ripagherà?
And who’s going to pay for the damage?

With personel gathered from 11 districts of Rome – many officers were over 50 years old and had more than 30 years of experience.

An immense force – of 1,300 men was still not enough to completely stamp out the violence.

And while they are attacking us, we are also afraid of the consequences of our action.

When it’s a police officer that gets beaten up, very few people are outraged. But if we are the ones using force, we have to be oh so careful.

If the whole thing is confirmed, the news we’ve just heard of the Carabinieri officer found guilty of having carried out a violent arrest:

a Carabinieri officer from Lucca arrested a man from Tunisia while he was stealing copper from a company.But he is being accused by the thief, of causing injury.

Finisce così a giudizio ed è condannato a 6 mesi di reclusione (pena sospesa fortunatamente), nonché al risarcimento danni per 7.500 euro e alle spese di 1.750 euro più Iva;
So he ends up on trial and is found guilty and sentenced to 6 months in prison (fortunately, the sentence is suspended), and he also has to pay compensation of 7,500 Euro for damages as well as costs of 1,750 Euro plus value added tax;

and there’s also the payment corresponding to he civil claim amounting to 3,500 Euro!

What can be said – except that we are disconsolate and afflicted.

A few hooligans were tried in court using a fast-track procedure and they were given prison sentences lasting from 8 to the 16 months and subjected to fines of up to 45 thousand Euro.

But obviously they are all free.They’ll be accompanied back to the Netherlands and they’ll get a “Denial of Access to Other Sporting Venues” (DASPO) but they won’t serve even an hour in prison, like so many other delinquents, who, even though they get a prison sentence, don’t actually serve any time behind bars.

L’insostenibile incertezza della pena!
The unsustainable uncertainty of the penalty!

Thank goodness that the Dutch Embassy spokesperson said that he wants to cooperate with the police!

And I too am supporting them for the professional behaviour they’ve always shown and for their courage.

Ay yes – and mayor Marino said that he wants to tear up the passports of these hooligans?

Do you know that it would be no use, because they are EU citizens!

And at least these Dutch hooligans however bad and ugly, do carry ID, unlike the tens of thousands of anonymous people that are now milling around in Italy!

Sorry, I forgot to say something: we are not cannon fodder!” Igor Gelaa, national leader of the Police Union, CONSAP
