Ora il colosso americano ha deciso di dismettere l’impianto per concentrare la produzione a Reims, in Francia.
Now this American giant has decided to close down this factory and concentrate production in Rheims, in France.
Una mossa dettata da una mera esigenza finanziaria cui fanno da contorno voci incontrollate sulla nascita di uno stabilimento nuovo di zecca in Romania, con un costo del lavoro che peserebbe meno della metà rispetto all’Italia.
A move dictated solely by financial considerations. And there are unverified rumours that there’ll be a brand new factory in Romania, where labour costs are about half what they are in Italy.

I dipendenti in protesta hanno trovato una sponda attenta nel M5S che si è adoperato in prima battuta per far partire un tavolo di confronto al ministero dello Sviluppo.
The protesting employees have found support from the M5S that has taken action to convene a meeting with the Ministry of Economic Development.
Lo stabilimento dovrebbe chiudere entro il 31 marzo prossimo, ma il primo passo, in un incontro che si farà a giorni, sarà quello di chiedere una proroga di un ulteriore mese per capire se nel frattempo Itron è disponibile a vendere e se ci sono dei candidati ad acquistare che possano rappresentare una credibile alternativa industriale.
The factory is due to close by 31 March. But in a meeting to be held in the next few days, we intend to ask for another month so that we can ascertain whether Itron might be willing to sell and whether there are potential buyers that could potentially manage a viable company.

Dunque, un player nel perimetro del pubblico che tra l’altro è già oggi tra i principali committenti della Itron Napoli e che, con un investimento complessivo intorno ai 4 milioni di euro, potrebbe nazionalizzare il produttore di contatori e farsi così i misuratori in proprio.
