Today is the first anniversary of the creation of the European Solidarity Corps
Si celebra oggi il primo anniversario dell’istituzione del corpo europeo di solidarietà.

One year since the European Commission launched the European Solidarity Corps, 42,745 young people from all Member States have signed up.
A un anno dal varo del corpo europeo di solidarietà da parte della Commissione europea sono 42 745 i giovani provenienti da tutti gli Stati membri che hanno aderito all’iniziativa;

2,166 of them have started their placements with 1,434 organisations.
di cui 2 166 hanno iniziato le loro attività nell’ambito di collocamenti presso 1 434 organizzazioni.

Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, Günther H. Oettinger, said:

One year after the launch of the European Solidarity Corps, many of them are already making a difference, bringing relief and hope to those who need it.

We now need to see a swift adoption of the dedicated legal base and budget for the coming years to make the potential benefits of the European Solidarity Corps a reality.”

Since the launch, European Solidarity Corps participants have been active all over Europe.
Dal lancio del corpo europeo di solidarietà, i giovani che vi partecipano sono attivi in tutta Europa.

In August 2017, for instance, a group of European Solidarity Corps volunteers arrived in Norcia, Italy, to help with the ongoing efforts to repair damage and rebuild social services for the local community affected by the severe earthquakes that had hit the region a year earlier.
Nell’agosto 2017, per esempio, un gruppo di volontari del corpo europeo di solidarietà è arrivato a Norcia per aiutare a riparare i danni e ripristinare i servizi sociali per le comunità locali colpite dai gravi terremoti verificatisi nella regione un anno prima.

In total, 230 European Solidarity Corps members will support Italian communities affected by the earthquakes until 2020.

Other Solidarity Corps participants work, for instance, with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or with special needs, with refugees or the elderly, from Rotterdam in the Netherlands to Aveiro in Portugal, and many more places in Europe.

Council and the European Parliament.

The Commission’s proposal to reinforce the European Solidarity Corps by giving it its own budget and legal base, and to broaden its activities, is currently being discussed in the in the Council and the European Parliament.

In the Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council, Member States reached an informal agreement amongst themselves on 20 November 2017 which paves the way for a final agreement with the European Parliament.
Nella sessione del Consiglio “Istruzione, gioventù, cultura e sport” del 20 novembre 2017 gli Stati membri hanno raggiunto un accordo informale tra loro che apre la strada a un accordo definitivo con il Parlamento europeo.

During his 2016 State of the Union address, Commission President Juncker announced the creation of a European Solidarity Corps, offering young people between the ages of 18 and 30 the opportunity to take part in a wide range of solidarity activities across the EU.
Nel suo discorso sullo stato dell’Unione del 2016 il Presidente della Commissione europea Juncker ha annunciato l’istituzione di un corpo europeo di solidarietà per offrire ai giovani di età compresa tra i 18 e i 30 anni la possibilità di partecipare a un’ampia gamma di attività di solidarietà in tutta l’UE.

Two months later, the European Solidarity Corps was launched with the aim of having 100,000 young people taking part by the end of 2020.
Due mesi dopo il corpo europeo di solidarietà è stato istituito con l’obiettivo di raggiungere i 100 000 giovani partecipanti entro la fine del 2020.

In this first phase of the European Solidarity Corps, eight different programmes have been mobilised to give young people the chance to take part in a range of solidarity activities addressing challenging situations across the EU.
In questa prima fase del corpo europeo di solidarietà sono stati attivati otto programmi per offrire ai giovani la possibilità di partecipare a una serie di attività di solidarietà rivolte a situazioni difficili in tutta l’UE.

Participation not only benefits young people’s personal development, active involvement in society and employability, but also assists non-governmental organisations, public bodies and companies in their efforts to cope with societal and other challenges.
La partecipazione non solo favorisce lo sviluppo personale dei giovani, la partecipazione attiva alla società e l’occupabilità, ma aiuta anche le organizzazioni non governative, gli enti pubblici e le imprese nei loro sforzi per far fronte alle sfide sociali e di altro genere.

Following the matching of volunteers with organisations which started in March 2017, the professional strand of the European Solidarity Corps kicked off in July with two projects led by the Italian and French Public Employment Services and supported by the European Commission.
In seguito all’abbinamento tra volontari e organizzazioni che ha avuto inizio nel marzo 2017, a luglio ha preso il via il filone professionale del corpo europeo di solidarietà con due progetti guidati dal servizio pubblico per l’impiego italiano e da quello francese con il sostegno della Commissione europea.

These projects are offering solidarity-related jobs or traineeships in another EU country to up to 6,000 young people.
Questi progetti offrono a un massimo di 6 000 giovani posti di lavoro o tirocini connessi alla solidarietà in un altro paese dell’UE.

On 30 May 2017, the Commission presented a proposal to put the European Solidarity Corps on a firm footing, with a budget of €341.5 million for the years 2018-2020 and a dedicated legal base.
Il 30 maggio 2017 la Commissione ha presentato una proposta volta a dare al corpo europeo di solidarietà una base stabile, con un bilancio di 341,5 milioni di euro per il periodo 2018-2020 e un’apposita base giuridica.

In addition, the Commission proposed to extend opportunities for young people.
La Commissione ha inoltre proposto di ampliare le opportunità per i giovani.

As well as offering volunteering, traineeships and job placements, in the future the European Solidarity Corps would also offer participants the opportunity to set up their own solidarity projects or to volunteer as a group.
Oltre a offrire collocamenti di volontariato, tirocinio e lavoro, in futuro il corpo europeo di solidarietà potrebbe dare ai partecipanti anche la possibilità di creare i propri progetti di solidarietà o di aderire come gruppo di volontariato.

In Gothenburg (Sweden) on 17 November, President Juncker invited EU leaders, during their Working Lunch on education and culture, to reach a target of 1.5 million young people participating in the European Solidarity Corps by 2025, which would require a budget of €6 billion for the period 2021-2027.
Il 17 novembre scorso a Göteborg (Svezia)nel corso della colazione di lavoro su istruzione e cultura il Presidente Juncker ha invitato i leader dell’UE a raggiungere l’obiettivo di 1,5 milioni di giovani partecipanti al corpo europeo di solidarietà entro il 2025, il che richiederà un bilancio di 6 miliardi di euro per il periodo 2021-2027.
