Everyone loves travelling but its better to stay healthy on your European trips. The free European Health Insurance Card gives peace of mind to over 50 million people, making sure they get the treatment they have a right to if they fall ill or have an accident when abroad.
Chi non ama viaggiare? Sarebbe certo meglio non avere problemi di salute quando ci si sposta in Europa, ma in caso contrario, la tessera europea di assicurazione malattia (rilasciata gratuitamente) fa dormire sonni tranquilli a oltre 50 milioni di persone, garantendo loro le cure necessarie qualora siano vittime di un incidente o abbiano problemi di salute all’estero.
>>>The card was introduced in 2004 and can now be used in some 30 countries. It helps simplify procedures for getting medical care if disaster strikes when you are in another European country. It is totally free and replaces all the old forms that people used to have to arrange for and carry abroad (E111, E110, E128 and E119).
La tessera, introdotta nel 2004 e ora utilizzabile in circa 30 paesi, contribuisce a semplificare le procedure da seguire per ottenere le cure mediche del caso quando ci si trova in un’altra nazione europea, è totalmente gratuita e sostituisce tutti i moduli che in passato era necessario procurarsi e portare con sé all’estero (E111, E110, E128 ed E119).
Each country’s card shares the same design, which means that medical staff will recognise it instantly even, if they don’t speak the same language.

Anyone who gets treatment at home under his or her national health system can carry the card. It can be used temporarily in another country, on holiday or for work.
Chiunque abbia titolo a ricevere cure nel proprio paese in base al sistema sanitario nazionale ha diritto ad avere la tessera, che può essere temporaneamente utilizzata in un altro Stato, durante un viaggio di lavoro o di piacere.
By showing it, European citizens can be sure that the medical services in the country they’re visiting know that you’re entitled to the same level of treatment as locals – this is their right.
Esibendola, i cittadini europei sono sicuri che i servizi medici del paese in cui si trovano sono a conoscenza del loro diritto a ricevere lo stesso trattamento sanitario garantito a un residente.
There were some concerns that the card might carry sensitive personal information – it doesn’t, just basic details, like names, national identity numbers and date of birth.
