Europeans want to know that the quality of water in their seas, lakes and rivers is guaranteed. It’s important for leisure, for health and for the tourism industry.
Gli europei vogliono essere certi della qualità delle acque dei loro mari, laghi e fiumi, un fattore essenziale per la salute, ma anche per il tempo libero e per l’industria del turismo.

So it’s good to know that, since the 1970s, maintaining and improving the quality of European bathing water has been one of the European Union’s priorities.

Monitoring bathing water quality is not a new thing in the EU. In 1976, the European Union passed the first piece of law aimed directly at improving the quality of bathing water; two others followed this, in 2002 and 2006.

These Directives ensure that the most sophisticated science is used to monitor the quality of bathing water. It also means that where the quality of the water falls below acceptable standards, Europeans can find out about it quickly.
Queste direttive garantiscono che il monitoraggio delle acque di balneazione preveda l’impiego dei più sofisticati strumenti scientifici e che, in caso la qualità delle acque scivoli al di sotto della soglia di accettabilità, i cittadini europei possano esserne informati celermente.
