In the majority of European countries, both parents are entitled to three months’ leave, and either the father or mother can take it, although they can’t transfer the leave from one of them to the other.
Nella maggior parte dei paesi europei entrambi i genitori hanno diritto a tre mesi di astensione dal lavoro: in questo periodo possono scegliere di restare a casa o meno, ma in caso di rinuncia non possono “cedere” il congedo all’altro.
At the end of the parental leave, parents have the right to return to the same job, or to an equivalent or similar position.
Trascorsi i tre mesi, i genitori hanno il diritto di riprendere il proprio lavoro o di essere assegnati a una posizione simile o equivalente.
To get parental leave, they may need to give plenty of notice and to indicate the date on which it will begin and end.
Per ottenere il congedo parentale, potrebbe essere necessario farne richiesta con largo preavviso, indicando la data di inizio e di fine.
The details vary according to the country they are working in, but employers must comply with the minimum requirements agreed by all European countries.
