35 miliardi di euro di investimenti in fondi, obbligazioni, derivati e altre forme di carta diventata straccia. 35 billion euro of investments in funds, bonds, derivatives, and other types of paper that have become trash.
Il debito dei Comuni italiani fa impallidire la Parmalat e qualcuno dovrà pagarlo.
The debts of the Italian towns make Parmalat blanche and someone will have to pay.
I Comuni sono diventati in questi anni degli speculatori finanziari.
In recent years, towns have become financial speculators.
Hanno usato le tasse dei cittadini per giocare in Borsa.

Non mi risulta che i funzionari dei Comuni siano degli esperti finanziari e neppure che la cittadinanza gli abbia attribuito la facoltà di usare i suoi soldi per comprare azioni della Lehman Brothers o della Bank of Scotland.

Alcuni Comuni hanno deciso di citare in giudizio le banche.

In pratica sono accusate di aver raggirato il Comune.

Le operazioni finanziarie sono di solito avviate da sindaci che non dovranno risponderne, nel senso che la scadenza dell’investimento e quindi della potenziale (di solito certa) perdita ricadono sull’amministrazione successiva.
