Tre iniziative per abrogare il legittimo impedimento, la privatizzazione dell’acqua e il pericolo nucleare.
Three initiatives to repeal the “legitimate impediment”, the privatisation of water and the danger of nuclear.

Lo abbiamo fatto per dare una chance ai cittadini, presi in giro da un Governo che aveva promesso altro.
We did that to give a chance for the citizens, having been taken for a ride by a government that had made promises for different stuff.

Il centrodestra non ha vinto le elezioni promettendo agli elettori una serie di leggi scansa-processi, oppure la privatizzazione dell’acqua pubblica o, peggio ancora, di voler fare dell’Italia un Paese nuclearizzato.
The Centre Right did not win the elections by promising the voters a series of “scansa-processi”y {trial-dodging} laws, or the privatisation of water, or even worse wanting to make Italy into a nuclearised country.

Borsellino: sconfitta di Stato
Borsellino: State defeat

Sono a Palermo per ricordare Paolo Borsellino e la sua scorta, a diciotto anni da quel giorno funesto, in via D’Amelio.
I am in Palermo to remember Paolo Borsellino and his bodies guards, 18 years after that fatal, terrible day in via D’Amelio.

In via D’Amelio e a Capaci saltarono in aria i valori dello Stato, non soltanto le macchine investite dalle esplosioni.
In Capaci’s via D’Amelio the values of the State went up in the air, not just the cars that were affected by the explosions.

Aveva ragione Antonino Caponnetto, fondatore del pool antimafia di cui facevano parte Borsellino e Falcone, quando, ripreso a caldo dalle telecamere, disse con la voce strozzata dal dolore:
Antonino Caponnetto, the founder of the Antimafia team which included Borsellino and Falcone, was right when he was captured by the cameras at that moment, with a voice choked with sadness, and was heard to say:

«E’ finito tutto, è finito tutto» (guarda il video).
«It’s all finished. It’s all finished.» (watch the video).

Borsellino, così come Falcone e molti altri dopo di loro tra forze dell’ordine e fedeli servitori dello Stato, furono uccisi da facce ancora senza volto che sappiamo essere oggi nelle istituzioni.
Borsellino, like Falcone and many others that came after them, including members of the security forces and faithful servants of the State, were killed by people whose faces are still not known but that we know to be today in the institutions.

Celebrare questa giornata è un dovere morale per un Paese in cui la legalità sembra essersi dissolta nell’acido, ascoltando le sentenze e le testimonianze registrate nei processi degli ultimi anni.
Celebrating this day is a moral duty for a country in which the rule of law seems to have got dissolved in acid, when you listen to the verdicts and the testimony that have been recorded in the last few years.

La Terra vista dallo spazio, da un comodo cratere lunare, da una luna di Giove, nel suo divenire in questi ultimi cento anni, un fotogramma dopo l’altro, apparirebbe come un insieme di invasati in accelerazione.
The Earth viewed from space, from a handy crater on the moon, from one of Jupiter’s moons, as it has become in the last 100 years, one frame after another, would appear as a set of people possessed by the devil, in a state of acceleration.

Un nido di formiche impazzite in corsa in ogni direzione dopo la distruzione del formicaio.

Pensions at age 70

In Italia esistono due classi: quella dei vecchi e quella dei giovani.
In Italy there are two classes: that of the old and that of the young.

La prima è al governo, ha una pensione, al termine dell’attività lavorativa ha avuto un tfr, ha goduto di un’Italia quasi scomparsa con fiumi puliti, spiagge libere, bassa criminalità.
The first is in government, has a pension, at the end of their working activity they have the TFR (lump sum payment) , they have enjoyed an Italy that has almost disappeared with clean rivers, free beaches, low levels of crime.

I vecchi hanno un futuro dietro le spalle.
The old have a future behind them.

Hanno avuto la speranza di emergere nella loro professione e molti ci sono riusciti, hanno avuto la sicurezza di un lavoro a tempo indeterminato.
They have had the hope of emerging in their professions and many have been successful, have had the security of a job with an indefinite end point.

I vecchi hanno potuto scegliere tra grandi aziende come l’Italtel, la Telecom, l’Olivetti.
The old people have been able to choose between the big companies like Italtel, Telecom, and Olivetti.

Hanno comprato un appartamento, i più fortunati anche una casa di villeggiatura.
They have bought an apartment and the luckier ones a holiday home.

Le dichiarazioni del Presidente del Consiglio sul fatto che non verranno toccate pensioni, sanità, Università e scuola, lasciano di stucco.
The declarations of the President of the Council about the fact that pensions, health, universities and schools will not be touched, leave us feeling sick.

Su tutta la linea, infatti, Berlusconi si è già contraddetto nei fatti ma sarà smentito ancor di più a breve, quando dovrà attuare una manovra ben più dura dei 26 miliardi annunciati in questi giorni.
In fact all along the line, he has already contradicted himself with the facts, but very shortly he will be proved to be wrong, when he has to lay his hands on a manoeuvre that is decidedly harsher than the 26 billion declared in recent days.

Per quanto riguarda le pensioni e la sanità mi auguro, invece, che nessuno creda alle parole del Presidente del Consiglio e del Governo, poiché sono dichiarazioni di chi “tira a campare”.
For pensions and health however, I hope that no one believes the words of the Premier and of the government, because they are declarations of those who “live from hand to mouth “.

Per l’istruzione, vorrei ricordare che l’intervento in stile “macelleria culturale” è già avvenuto attraverso tutti i tagli possibili, compresi quelli effettuati al comparto della ricerca.
As regards education, I would like to remind you that the intervention in the style of “cultural butchery” has already happened with all possible cuts, including in the area of research.

Anche sulle pensioni sono già stati effettuati tagli nel modo peggiore. Infatti, chi ne aveva il diritto non ha potuto usufruirne: un diritto negato proprio quando il contribuente era in dirittura di arrivo.
Even for pensions, they have already made cuts by not sending money to those who had fulfilled the necessary conditions to gain a pension and in the worst possible way, exactly when the person who had paid their contributions was expecting the pension to start arriving any day.
