Nearly one in eight European households includes a child under the age of six.
In circa una famiglia europea su otto vi è un bambino di meno di sei anni.

19 million of them – one in five – are at risk of poverty.
19 milioni di bambini – uno su cinque – sono esposti al rischio della povertà.

Today, for the first time, the Commission launches an action plan aimed at giving every child a better start in life and to lay the foundations for successful lifelong learning, social integration, personal development and employability later in life.
In data odierna la Commissione avvia, per la prima volta, un piano d’azione mirante ad assicurare ad ogni bambino migliori prospettive e a porre le basi per un efficace apprendimento permanente, per l’integrazione sociale, per lo sviluppo personale e l’occupabilità più avanti nella vita.

The Commission’s proposals, which include a call for universal access to quality pre-school education, will also contribute to two of the headline targets of the Commission’s ‘Europe 2020’ strategy – reducing the share of early school leavers to under 10% and to lift at least 20 million people out of the risk of poverty and social exclusion.
Le proposte della Commissione, una delle quali propugna un accesso universale ad un’educazione prescolastica di qualità, contribuiranno anche al raggiungimento di due dei grandi obiettivi della strategia “Europa 2020” della Commissione – vale a dire la riduzione della dispersione scolastica che dovrebbe essere portata sotto al 10% ed il riscatto di almeno 20 milioni di persone dal rischio di povertà e di esclusione sociale.

Nessuno vieta al grande artista, al profondo comunicatore, all’intrattenitore colto di rischiare in proprio, o cercare un finanziatore, per diffondere le sue verità democratiche, o meno, in Rete.

The European Commission today called for a dangerous ecstasy-like drug that is still legal in 12 EU countries to be banned.
Oggi la Commissione europea ha proposto di dichiarare illegale una pericolosa droga assimilabile all’ecstasy, ancora legale in 12 paesi dell’UE.

It asked the EU Member States to stop the free spread of the drug “mephedrone” across Europe by submitting it to control measures.
Ha invitato gli Stati membri a metter fine alla libera circolazione del “mefedrone” nel territorio europeo sottoponendo tale droga a misure di controllo.

Mephedrone is already illegal in 15 EU countries. It has been linked to at least 37 deaths in the UK and Ireland alone.

“Mephedrone is a dangerous drug that is available online and on the street corner.

41 years after the Woodstock with its three days of “Peace and Music”, at Cesena there will then be two days of “Future and Music”, Woodstock 5 Stars.

Inizierà nel pomeriggio di sabato 25 e finirà a mezzanotte della domenica.
It’ll start in the afternoon of Saturday 25 and it’ll finish at midnight on the Sunday.

Non ci saranno Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Joan Baez, The Who, Janis Joplin e The Greateful Dead, ma trenta gruppi e musicisti italiani.
There won’t be Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Joan Baez, The Who, Janis Joplin and The Grateful Dead, but there will be 30 Italian groups and musicians.

The press is gagging itself

E’ certamente vero che Berlusconi, con la legge sulle intercettazioni, vuole imbavagliare l’informazione, ma è anche vero che la stampa e le televisioni – anche quelle apparentemente più indipendenti – ci mettono del loro per imbavagliarsi da sole.
While it is certainly true that Berlusconi wants to gag the media with his wiretapping law, it is equally true that the press and the television broadcasters, even those that appear to be more independent, are doing their best to gag themselves.

Prendiamo il caso di quel che è successo ieri.
Take the case of what happened yesterday for example.

Noi dell’Italia dei Valori abbiamo depositato alla Corte di Cassazione oltre due milioni di firme di cittadini italiani per abrogare con referendum tre leggi vergogna:
We of the Italia dei Valori party deposited more than two million signatures from Italian citizens with the Court of Cassation, calling for a referendum to repeal three particularly shameful laws, namely

il legittimo impedimento (ovvero quella legge che ha permesso e permette a Berlusconi di non farsi processare)

La prima sono gli ospiti, di solito degli altri partiti.
The main consideration is the guests, who are usually people from the other political parties.

La seconda sono i dibattiti politici con gli ospiti degli altri partiti.
The second consideration is the political debates involving the guests from the other political parties.

La terza sono i giornalisti che riportano sui media i dibattiti politici del segretario del partito ospite, o di un suo delegato, con deputati e senatori degli altri partiti.
